"Peter's Denial" by Danish painter Carl Heinrich Bloch
I saw the painting on exhibit in a Copenhagen, Denmark museum and was astounded at its beauty. It depicts the moment when the Apostle Peter denies Jesus for the third time and the rooster crowing just as Jesus told Peter would happen. The perspective and shadows of the painting makes it appear to be almost three dimensional.

I like the story as much as the painting.
Maxfield Parrish, painted himself as the piper and his kids and their friends from the neighborhood are the children. The one boy, climbing over the rocks and looking out towards the viewer was his son who was apparently an absolute little pain in the arse.

The Veiled Nun, saw it while volunteering at the Corcoran. The artist somehow made solid stone appear translucent.

Le Genie du Mal (The Genius of Evil ), aka Lucifer of Liege. Sculpted in the mid-1800s by Guillaume Geefs and resides in St. Paul's Cathedral in Liege, Belgium. Liked it so much I got a tattoo of it on my arm.
