No match. Everyone gets 15% of their salary deposited into their 401(k) regardless of whether or not they contributed anything that year.

Everyone please make sure you are hitting the 401k max every year, you will regret it once you get older. I’m 32 and have coworkers in their mid 40’s that don’t have what I do in my 401k. That’s not a subtle brag at all, it’s just a sad thing. Retirement should be a goal one looks forward to.

I heard Dave Ramsey tell a caller who was maxing everything to save for retirement that he had friends that did the same thing. Unfortunately, they did not live to see retirement. Don’t put put all of your money toward retirement and forget to live today.

This is $730 per pay period (bi-weekly)to hit the $19k individual max (employer contributions don't count toward the $19k limit). When you have a family, ridiculous healthcare prices, child care, college tuitions, groceries, etc., it's asking a lot for someone to put almost $1500 a month away for retirement.

If our government would pull their heads out of their asses and give us middle and upper-middle folks a fricking break, sure, we can get serious about saving for retirement. Seems they only care about the rich or the poor while we in the middle tote both groups.

Are you in Australia by any chance? Another country? This sounds like superannuation which Australia is the only country I’m familiar with that does this. But they’re at 9%

Couldn’t agree more, but what in your budget could easily be cut to help you increase your contributions to 401k. I happened to get good advice from my father in law when I started this job. He said put what you can in it now and you won’t miss it.

FWIW, I have 2 kids under two in child care, it is expensive so I can def understand that.
