My wife's loan is something like $600, but it's 48-month, zero interest and the only loan outside of our mortgage. Basically, all the cash we would have spent on it is collecting interest in a money market account while we repay at 0%.

Of course not.

Also, paying cash isn't the end of the world either. I can tell you it's typically a poor financial decision, but the "value" of not having a note is subjective, so that's ultimately up to the purchaser.

It's also worth noting that discussing this stuff in terms of "monthly notes" is 100% a sales tactic, yet we all fall for it.

The only thing that determines whether or not you got a good deal is the purchase price of the vehicle. How you ultimately decide to come up with that money is a separate decision.

Never over $350 after trade or down payment. We are not stupid and we don’t keep up with the Jones’. A vehicle is generally not an investment, since it’s loses value so quickly. It is nothing more than a means of transportation.

Exactly. $500 isn't that much money to a lot of families. My wife and I alternate getting new vehicles. Hers is paid for now with 55k on it. Mine will be paid off before it has 40k on it.

Some people consider not having old vehicles as a luxury they are willing to pay for.

My last car note was $710/mth. I'm not sure how anyone can determine whether or not that was a good financial decision based on such minimal information.

We always finance through a credit union on the gov site we work at, and sell our old cars ourselves, so final purchase price is all we care about. Every single car we’ve bought has been out of state, so with TTL...there is only one number. I’ve never gotten a deal on any vehicle, but it is exactly what I want so I know I’m not overpaying (for something I don’t want).

No I don’t want X, I’m _____ miles away, I’ll never see you again.

Assuming you are saying the cars have a value of 90k total, that is a ton of money that can be in the market. However, if you are retired and it is your excess, then go at it. There is a accumulating part of ones life, then spending part.

My car $0
Wife's car $0
Spare truck $0
Will stay that way. All three have air conditioning and four wheels. They also go from A to B. That's all we need

Are places really financing below 2%? That is incredible.

I mean if your credit is decent and you go at the right time of year you can get 0% financing from dealerships, though many will argue they don’t come down off the price as much but that’s a different discussion
