The state maintains federal highways. The feds just chip in some money here and there.

The sign was probably removed or deemed useless.

Like the sign on Airline

The current sign isn’t 45 years old so it’s been replaced and should have been deemed useless to save the $1 million it cost the parish to put up

No idea how much it costs to maintain the sign every 25 years or so.

I don't think a sign 15 miles away and one within sightline are equally useless. But I don't think this discussion is about logic any longer.

Fwiw, there is a sign for the State Fairgrounds a half mile back across the street from a sign for the state fairgrounds.

Also there is a sign for area of Hobart.

There is a sign in Beaumont Texas on I-10E that says Baton Rouge, even though Baton Rouge is 180 miles from that sign.

There's one in Morgan city too. Hang a right on 70 to get to tiger stadium, only 2 hours to go

Morgan City’s High School’s Mascot is the Tigers.

So the sign points you to their Tiger Stadium which is at the Middle school just past the turn by the Walmart Neighborhood Market.

Fun fact, burbank was built to be a loop in BR. Burbank, Siegen/Sherwood, Florida Blvd, then an undetermined route through the Garden District.

Residents of the Garden District shut it down.

That doesn’t make a lick of fricking sense. Loop through the Garden District?

Just saying what the plan was. Could have been as easy as tying florida down stanford type thing or bringing it back to 110 and bypassing all of that.

There was a reason Burbank was originally built the way it was.

There’s a sign for Leesville in LeCompte for a road that takes you nowhere near leesville.

That's probably more of a warning sign though.

Then realize that every project and LaDOT system probably mandates that signs are replaced no matter if they make sense amy longer or not.

Someone should steal this sign... You know, for science, see if it's replaced.

Because if you turn left on to Highland Road you'll pretty much go straight to Tiger Stadium would be my guess.

Ground mounted confirmatory route markers for federal highways predating the interstate system.

If it’s for Highland Road.. LSU Stadium isn’t on Highland Road

What about the billy cannon statue off state street at entrance to those apartments
It’s the ole miss goal line stand
Cannon had a statue long before he officially got the one by tiger stadium

Yep that sign won’t last much longer
Only problem is it’s hard to steal it with so much traffic going by all the time
