What’s with the “LSU Stadium” sign on Airline Hwy at Highland Road 15 miles from campus?

It’s on Airline Hwy by the Chick fil a. It’s been there forever but I used to pass it all the time and always thought about a couple of things...
1. Who put it up with it saying “LSU” Stadium.. not Tiger Stadium
2. Why is there a sign to Tiger Stadium so far away from LSU

Believe it or not, Airline is a US Highway

AG Landry put that up

There's one in Morgan city too. Hang a right on 70 to get to tiger stadium, only 2 hours to go

If you take that left on Highland, you could stay on Highland all the way to campus.

It does if you realize that I10 didn't exist when the sign was orginally put there.
Then realize that every project and LaDOT system probably mandates that signs are replaced no matter if they make sense amy longer or not.

I assume it’s the one right before the left turn onto Perkins? It’s a relic from before everybody had mobile devices and GPS and when a lot of folks driving from New Orleans to the game would take Airline.

Left onto Highland, which runs together with 73/42 (I think).
42 runs from BR all the way across most of the river parishes. It was a pretty important road.

It’s 30 minutes from campus and there’s no other signs along that route to campus.

But you don't have to turn after you make that turn. No need for more signs.

There’s a sign for Leesville in LeCompte for a road that takes you nowhere near leesville.

If it’s for Highway 42.. Highway 42 turns onto Burbank
If it’s for Highland Road.. LSU Stadium isn’t on Highland Road

Highland Rd @ Airline Hwy is not 30 minutes from campus, unless it’s game day.

Burbank didn't exist. Even if it did, you can see the stadium and are on campus at that point. The sign was probably removed or deemed useless.
Fun fact, burbank was built to be a loop in BR. Burbank, Siegen/Sherwood, Florida Blvd, then an undetermined route through the Garden District.
Residents of the Garden District shut it down.
