I'm not sure I could find a pair at home if I needed them.

I haven't been in a setting that I thought required black shoes (other than a tux) in years.

I have a pair of those JM too. For those of us who suit up daily, black shoes are back. Both with navy and gray suits.

Black shoes with broguing, brown soles, tan stitches, and blue laces?

For the love of God return those immediately if it's not too late to get a refund. If it is, give them to your dog as a chew toy. If you don't have a dog, buy a dog solely to have him eat those shoes.

Those are a Willy Wonka funhouse level of mismatched disaster.

Black dress shoes with brown soles is just insulting. I would take it as a personal insult to see someone wearing such a contradiction.

Hell now you can find black dress shoes with lime green soles. Millennial crap I think.

Also this trend of wearing sneakers with suits. Who does that shite?

How did this get 4 upvotes?

If you wear black shoes with a blue suit, these following things are a fact:

You are fat, or at least skinny fat with no muscle definition

You have on pleats, or possible double pleats

Your suit doesnt fit properly

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

Think there may be a generational divide on this. Maybe it's a younger generation thing to wear these shoes.

I mean, I wear colorful socks, in the event that I actually wear socks. So I wouldn't consider myself a traditionalist, in terms of fashion.

Maybe we just have two different styles. Regardless, you may not like them, but they are considered in style.

I'm 29, and style is independent of age IMO. No one should be wearin hideously clashing items and saying they're in-style just because they're young. That's how we all get the reputation of being such clueless fools.

Unless you've got some gf who specifically picked those out and loves them, I would really recommend you get rid of them. Black dress shoes (when worn as I agree they're primarily useless) should always be minimalist and subdued not jazzed up in hipster nonsense.

We are basically the same age, so you're right that it isn't age based.

Maybe we just have two different styles. I don't like a lot of styles that aren't my own, but I recognize that others exist and that's perfectly acceptable. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean it isn't in style, it may just mean that it isn't my style. I think that's the situation here. You don't like the shoes, which is your call. I'm not trying to force them on you or anything. I'm just saying that even though it isn't your style, the shoes can still be in style.

<----kicking them right now

But not with a suit. Black shirt with khakis or denim. I think I need to add some tan laces to really make them pop.

I have one pair of black shoes and I only wear them if I am getting blackout drunk in a tuxedo. Other than that, they are relegated to the back of the closet.
