Kashmir Gardens in Fifth Ward, Garden City in Acres Homes, and Sunnyside. Sunnyside being the worst. I’ve taught for years in the other two, but wouldn’t even consider working in Sunnyside

A better question is what is the good side?
Besides the heights, midtown, and downtown when you’re young and then the memorial villages, river oaks, and west u when you’re raising a family is there anywhere else that is even worth living in Houston for?

the third is becoming broadline livable, particularly around riverside terrace. As the med center expands, it will become a decent to good area IMO.
The 5th ward is fricked since it is still so heavily industrial. It will take a long time for enough hipster honkies to consider moving in.
Pleasantville is another shithole neighborhood that the port/plants surround making it unlivable

I worked on a project a few years ago in Houston that was north of 610, between 45 and the hardy. First time I pulled up to the property I was alone in a red audi. It was next to am apartment complex where at the gated entrance they were openly dealing drugs, etc. I pulled up and every eye was on me with a wtf look going on. I took some pics and bailed.
Throughout the building of the school we were doing the on-site trailer was broken into several times, once with the side torn open by a backhoe, another they tore a hole through the floor and came in. The super requested permission to open carry and said he was not going back unless he could. I left the company about that time so no idea how it turned out. But that was a messed up neighborhood.

I would stay clear of Humble and Gunspoint. Problem with Humble is it borders Atascocita which is ok in spots, sketchy in others. It also borders Kingwood which is one of the better burbs of Houston.
