I worked in a plant that had a train come in every evening and connect to full railcars to pull them out. One guy got caught between two railcars as they were being coupled. The guy didn’t die right away as the coupled cars kept him from bleeding out. Had enough time to call his wife out to see and talk to him before they uncoupled the cars. He died right after they separated the railcars.
Swing away

Man I thought I had two stories to tell that were pretty wild just within the past 3 years, but this thread is crazy. That is awful.

Good.
I was in a HMMWV that got hit by an IED. Got pinned down for about 30 minutes from the ambush. Not fun.
Happened a second as well, but was in an MRAP. Thankfully, it wasn't quite as exciting and we just motored on.

Seeing the frozen cadavers of Uday and Qusay Hussein isn't even Top 10 on my list

I was hiking with my soon to be wife in Smokey Mountain National Park about 20 years ago and I heard someone screaming on the trail just ahead of us. It was pretty remote and hadn’t seen anyone else in several hours so it was a bit startling. I ran up ahead to see what was going on and a guy in his mid 20’s was laying there gushing blood out of his leg and shoulder. I assumed he had been attacked by an animal but didn’t bother to ask. I had a pullover in my backpack and so did he. Tied both pullovers around his wounds as best I could and carried him out with my wife helping. He passed out by the time I got him to the ranger’s station. He had been attacked by some dude trying to rob him with a knife and fought him off. I was covered in his blood and prayed the whole time he didn’t have HIV or whatever animal had in my mind attacked him wasn’t following us. Dude never even thanked us and we had to sit through police interviews for another 3-4 hours before they let us go while still having his blood all over me.

Back in 1975 I was 3 and playing with my best friend in his back yard. Back in the 70's the parents didn't watch the kids like now. We were unsupervised and 3 yrs old and playing with this cool water toy. He said something like can you do this? and put the WATER WIGGLE in his mouth. It got caught and he drowned right in front of me. We were both 3 and I can remember it like it was yesterday. Banging on the sliding glass door to get his mom to come out. Marcus was the first water wiggle death and it happened in Baton Rouge just up from Westminster school. A couple of years later another kid in Florida did the same thing and it was pulled from shelves.
I've witnessed a bunch of other tragic things especially in my Navy days on an aircraft carrier. But nothing shaped my life like coming to terms with it at 3.

Reading this thread, I'm grateful to be spared seeing some horrific things.
I have one contribution.
In the 90s, before people really wore helmets skiing, I saw a guy in Beaver Creek on a fast blue slope hit a tree square on. He was out cold, but breathing. About 10 people saw it and stopped. We had someone ski down to get help (no cellphones back then). Probably took 15 minutes for help to come and the guy never completely woke up, but his breathing was still steady. I wasn't helping so I skied down and tried to meet up with my family at our pre-planned rendezvous. Told the crazy story and went about my day. Next day the local news said he had died. Sad, some college aged kid. I'll never forget his face.
So glad helmets are the standard now. Can't believe we never even thought about wearing them.

I'd say that wildest thing that I've seen recently was a couple of years ago at Foster Falls in Tennessee. There is a nice view of the falls not far away from the parking lot, but you can hike down a steep trail to get down to the bottom of the waterfall and the pool it empties into. There are also trails that go past the falls into the forest.
So we parked and walked to the overlook, and then decided to walk down the steep trail. As we were walking up to the trailhead a pit bull mutt looking dog was wandering around, and going up to people that passed. It was a friendly dog. We didn't really pay it too much mind, and headed down the steep trail to the bottom. As we got to the bottom, I see a flash come down from the overlook out of my peripheral, followed by a loud thud, and then a dog squealing. I realized pretty quick that the dog had fallen 60-80 feet from the overlook. Not sure how in the hell it happened.
We hurry over to wear the sound is coming from, and find that dog in real bad shape. It was alive, and seemed alert, but it had broken back legs at the very least, likely a broken hip. We didn't really know what to do because it would've been dangerous to try and carry an injured dog up to the top to get it help. Eventually another group of hikers walked up, and a couple of them were in the medical field and said that they'd stay with the dog and try and help it/call for help. So we left and hiked on down the trail.
When we got back to that spot, the dog was still there. We hiked back up to the top and some rangers were already in motion to go down and get it. We gave them some details on what we knew of the situation, and left.
I always wonder what happened to that dog. Hope it made it out ok.

Was in the showers and a group of guys grabbed this smaller guy and beat him up. Then they started raping him anally. The guards watched and did nothing and they rooted him out.
Oh.....
I thought you were asking about the wildest thing I'd ever seen in prison.

It had a copper hook like thing that made the water jet out which made the thing 'wiggle'. I don't know what he was trying to do honestly. But can make assumptions now. I think he was trying to put it in his mouth and make it like the water was jetting out. But when he turned it on, the jet overpowered his jaw or surprised him and jetted down his throat and got hooked. It wasn't until he fell into the monkey grass and blood started coming out of everywhere along with the water that I realized there was a problem. Don't forget... I was 3 so it's not like I knew much of anything.
I guess he had done it before and thought it was funny. I honestly have no idea, but probably would have done it next if it that hadn't happened.

UFO. Me and my cousin were leaving our hunting club at night, riding on hilly dirt roads. Go down one, then as we ascend to the top of the next one there is a huge craft with lights all over it headed right toward us, didn't seem like it was going super fast but it had to be based on the ground it covered. As it passes over the truck, everything goes dead. After it had passed the electronics came back on, was able to go home.
Didn't see this personally but know of a guy who was riding in a boat during heavy, heavy fog, leaned over the side to spit his dip out, sign hits him and peels the skin off one side of his face. Guy bled out in the boat.

BR crime: convenience store hold up, drive by shooting, families fighting in the middle of the street, etc...

In the early 90’s my now wife was working at a western clothing store next to I-10 in Orange Texas. The road on that exit is Simmons drive which was known to have druggy street walkers back then due to all the plant baw traffic on that road. Anyway I was visiting her at work one day during the summer and we walked outside to talk. We saw this truck pull over in the side of I-10 and this skank got out and started giving herself a whore vagina bath with what looked like napkins or wet wipes she pulled out of her purse. Next thing we see is her take off running across the interstate for some unknown reason (probably high as frick) and just get centered by a 18 wheeler. You could see pieces of her flying through the air. Was truly fricked up.

My mother had a heart attack in 2004 which landed her in the ICU for several days, it was just her and a 18 year old kid in the ICU. The 18 year old had some type of bacterial infection and it wasn’t looking good for him. On the 3rd day a couple doctors and other people from the hospital came into the ICU waiting room, reading the room I went into the hallway, not long after his father came out and went into the ICU. Maybe 10 minutes later his father came out with a 1000 yard stare and screamed he’s gone, then let out a noise that I hope to never hear again that was full of pain and anguish and hit his knees. Witnessing the immediate reaction of a father after losing his child messed me up for awhile, especially since I had a one year old at the time.

Head rolling out a door way and exploding.
I see it alot still to this day.
Don’t ask and it’s okay not to believe.
