El Cid turned me into a man.
I owe it everything.

Lived there in the 2000s. As the other poster said, 1BR was around $500 a month. Had everything a college kid needed and great location. Biked to class every day. Not the nicest I ever lived in, but there wasn’t much to complain about.

What's the story with El-Cid apartments?
This dude called El Cid (b. ~1049) expelled the Moors from medieval Spain and became a national hero. Later, some apartments in Baton Rouge were named after him.

No BS. Fall 92 & spring 93 for me. Moved to gardere after that, back when they still let white folks live out there..
Favorite Villa Franche memory, used to work at Brewbachers on Nicholson and had to open one morning. Out the door by 7am except roommate's dog had shite the floor and rolled in it. Leashed him up, walked him downstairs and threw him in the pool.
Made him swim around until all the turds rinsed off then walked him back upstairs and tied him to the railing and hauled arse.

All I know is that it's Spanish for "The Cid".
