What’s the polite time cutoff for fireworks on the 4th?

Having this debate with family. It doesn’t get really dark until after 8:30. I say 10 pm is fair cutoff, family thinks I should get it done by 9 pm.

My younger days I’d agree, but now that I have had kids, I realize some poor parents are just trying to get theirs to sleep.

Do you live in a neighborhood? If so, major white trash move to use big fireworks after 8 or 9 when babies are asleep

In Livingston Parish the fireworks end at midnight
The gunfire begins at 12:01

Depends, do you live by Messicans?

No Mexicans, larger lots and on the water (lake house). Dont think any direct neighbors have babies, but not sure further down the street.
Firing over the water.

Wherever you are, I would say the cutoff is one hour after last light. Anything after that can be saved for New Years.

9 would be my preferred cutoff time, but I think 10 is a reasonable cutoff.
After 10 is late and 10:30+ seems unnecessary. By 10:30 you have had a full 2 hours of darkness to light fireworks. No reason to still be popping them off that late

Obviously depends where you live, would say 11

10 pm always seems to be a universal "quiet" time. Assholes will go past midnight, though.

New Year’s Eve is the worst at midnight
July 4th usually is over by 10-11
It is a Saturday so no work for most tomorrow

I would say 11:00 p.m. I mean it's a Saturday night in the summer, the kids will be fine being up a little later for one night. And most people aren't working tomorrow so it's fine being up late.
Many areas, especially in the Northeast and Midwest, don't even get dark until close to 9:30 p.m. this time of year, so expecting fireworks to be done within 30 minutes of it getting dark seems a little ridiculous.
I won't even care if they go until midnight. I think it would take until 1:00 a.m. for me to start really getting annoyed and maybe going out and saying something.

11pm if you're Canadian polite. Midnight if you're 'Merican.
