I got subpoenaed and honestly forgot to show up due to work. They, the Sheriff's office, tracked me down through family. I had to go. I went, as I was dressed, in shorts and tshirt. Got chastised by the judge for my look. Apologized for showing up in court that way because I honestly forgot. No harm, no foul. Was selected, but I know that's not the judge's decision.
TLDR: I forgot. They called family. I went when reminded. No fine. No penalty.

Bad jurors get picked and innocent cops like Chauvin get convicted.

I’ve been summoned twice, once on a jury, next one is going straight to the trash. Prove I received it.

I got to skip once when I was pregnant.

The next time I was called, I went and when they asked if there were any teachers - they would excuse them. We homeschool so I went up to tell them that - and apparently homeschooling doesn’t count. The stupid jerk said - whoever is watching your kids right now can keep watching them - so I asked what about the teachers?

I was pissed, but I wasn’t called for duty.

Jail. They can (and will) come arrest you.

Sounds like it might be more of a small town judge that would enforce a punishment.

Haven’t been called for a criminal trial yet. They’ve all been civil bullshite. Hell, I’d be entertained by a good divorce trial. But they’ve all been some sort of injury trial.

I’ve never been called & i’ve always wondered/worried that they get sent to an old address and one day I’m going to get in trouble over it

If the summons comes in the mail then you can disregard.

If the summons is formally served then the court could send a sheriff to get your arse and/or hold you in contempt. Although that’s not really done often especially in high population areas.

Got called for jury duty and fully a third were no shows. Safety in numbers. They can't arrest everybody.

One poor bastard showed up who had a job out of state and the judge wouldn't let him off. I bet he wished he hadn't shown up.

I’ve had 3-4 subpoenas, called the number night before, no need to show up.... so guess they’ve settled everytime

For some of us, a phone call beforehand handles up on this bidness. Sorry you’re not some of us.

Someday you may be really successful, have a large net worth along with huge liability coverage and end up being the defendant in a frivolous medical injury suit that you decide to fight rather than settle. Then then you realize the jury will not be that of your peers, but a group of people with questionable intelligence that couldn’t just“make a call”.
