Rome just has so much breadth, particularly the Late Republic through about 200 A.D. Maybe Athens, Fifth Century B.C. would be right there with Rome.

The 1970’s. The music was great back then no matter what style you liked.

The Fall of Civilizations podcast on YouTube is pretty awesome. He has both non video and video eps for every subject so just be aware if you click on one without visuals.

62, your're quite sensitive.

This thread isn't about places so one has to assume he has to at least be referring to the people of the island. I thought my homo remark was an evident reference to Clerks but guess not. I spent some time in the Greek Isles when my mother lived in Athens and it may be my favorite place I've ever been.

How are they overrated? The Greeks heavily influenced the Romans and Rome had an expansive long lasting empire that influences us to this day. We are using their alphabet right now.

I’m with ya on the American side of it. Ancient North America during the Stone Age is made up of a lot of theories. Generally I like anything before the Bronze Age but mostly North American stuff

I like the Badarians.

They were pretty badass rians.

Seriously though. They were some of the first to have established successful agriculture in Upper Egypt area.

Phoenicians all the way. Have us modern phonics, we're the best ancient explorers and traders. Yet get little mention outside of Spaceship Earth.

They did get notoriety through the Cartheginians if you want to look at it like that.

Santorini. Despite being touristy it is still magical. Thera for nightlife and Oia for some quiet time. It was the only island I got to be alone on. A return to do more smaller islands and Crete is on my bucket list.

Even tho the Egyptians call them by names, contemporaries from what we gather didn't know where they came from.
They came from several places. They are depicted in Egyptian and others' reliefs, etc. as wearing a lot of different clothes and helmets.

Because of their attacking everyone, bringing about the collapse or both?

They made seafaring trade (i.e. most intl. trade) impossible, as they were basically pirates and they were everywhere. When there were no ships to rob, they massed and attacked on land.

A better question is what happened to them by the time the Assyrians were rising. They just sort of disappear.
