The people that say ATL is overrated have only come in town for a game, exclusively stayed downtown, or flown threw the airport. But, I’m glad y’all don’t like it. We don’t need anymore people coming for jobs.
No problem. I wouldn’t want to live there and I have spent plenty of time in all parts of ATL over the past 20 years.
Atlanta folks also seem pretty insecure about any negative viewpoint on the city.

Austin is easily the most overrated city in America.

Let’s be real, Atlanta has to be rated decent to be overrated. I’ve never heard anyone argue Atlanta is a great city really.

Many boards reek of ATL jealousy.
insecure a bit?
Why would people be jealous of ATL. Anyone could live there if they wanted to.

That's why I went with Denver.
Denver is basically far west Kansas w a view of the north (I meant front) range. Traffic sucks. At least the rail goes to airport now. I like Boulder. The front range towns are pretty meh and traffic to and from can be awful. I'm spoiled by MT skiing, so the lift lines, parking and overall crowds at the ski resorts there are also a downer.
I would still pick Denver over a lot (a whole lot) of places, but it isn't a draw. Similar comments re Salt Lake. I'd pick Denver over SLC any day though.

Savannah being #1
My dad lives on Tybee Island, which I think is underrated (I don't like it as a weekend beachgoer, but my dad is right on the kayak launch and paddling to Lttile Tybee is awesome. Great locals too), but Savannah proper blows imo. Give me Charleston (and its islands) any day.
I think Atlanta is actually underrated in a way, because everyone seems to think it sucks.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like it (been there part-time since 2001--luckily the other part is paradise and I travel a lot). But if you do it right it is very livable. Especially east side/Decatur. I have made atlanta about 10 mile radius--usually more like 4. I live in a forest (Atlanta is very green), walking distance from good restaurants and bars. Ez Marta to airport to go anywhere.
Trails everywhere and close to lots of good paddling.
I can run a marathon from my front door and at least 2/3 would be trail.
I hate downtown and midtown (for different reasons), Buckhead is mostly stupid but I like the old schoolers there, west side is annoying to me and I never go because I'm so far east. Beltline is a shitshow. I don't do it.
I do like Atlanta's location--I can be on pristine Gulf beaches in under 5 if I time it right. Highlands NC in 2. Chattanooga, Nashville, Knoxville, Greenville, Asheville, and Boone are all 2-4 hours. And there are mountain (ok, hill) towns like Rome Ellijay, and Dahlonega even closer. Charleston is 5. Savannah 3.5.
Sports are at least there, even though it's a shite fanbase generally: MLB, MLS,NFL (only to root against them), and NBA.
Again, if you do it right, there are far worse places than Atlanta, even though i still wouldn't lose any sleep if I never went there again.
