What's the most do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do thing you grew up with in your household?

Smoking? Infidelity?
For me it was financial wisdom. My mom and Dad told me to pay off credit cards every month, save at least 20%, etc. And yet they lived paycheck to paycheck, multiple bankruptcy filings, etc. They've been divorced since the 70s, are 80+ years old, and both have a negative financial net worth.
But, I followed their financial advice, or maybe it was a case of witnessing the cautionary tale up close.

My Dad would always tell "if you let someone control your emotions, they control you"
Now he watches Fox News every night until he gets raging mad and storms off to bed

Quit being a moron. They knew what got them into trouble, so they knew what to warn you against.

Oh yes. Very much so.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that parenting in a nutshell? Making sure your kids don't make the same mistakes you made and end up better off than you are. Ive always thought you had to be a bit of a hypocrite to be a good parent. Could just be me and my younger derelict ways though.

I can tell you the one we have in our current household:
Limits on screen time. We are HARD on our kids about screen time, but my wife and I often melt into the couch scrolling social media or playing iPhone games

“Clean up your room”
My dad’s barn and shop both look like a hoarder’s dream

Yes, I say that to my kids when I'm sipping a bourbon at 3pm. :-)
Just curious what's the most obvious examples people saw growing up. For me, it was financial responsibility.
Maybe a better question is: What's something you do that's the extreme opposite of what you saw in your home growing up.

Doesn't exactly fit the question but my old man would say "in or out" when we would go in/out the door too much, mainly in the summer.
Not sure why he cared because we had no A/C.
