Seems people don’t understand the difference between corruption and incompetence.
Corruption is a form of dishonesty or a criminal offense which is undertaken by a person or an organization which is entrusted in a position of authority, in order to acquire illicit benefits or abuse power for one's personal gain.
Incompetence is not having or showing the necessary skills to do something successfully.
Now an incompetent person can be corrupt, but t most of the corruption is at a state level.

Marc Morial and Mitch Landrieu even though extremely popular, both left town as soon as their mayoral terms ended, Ray Nagin and Oliver Thomas are no longer unjustly confined in federal prison for taking bribes, and Queen I mean Mayor Latoya Cantrell likes to spend time in the Quarter to be close to her people, honing her already impressive diplomatic skills.
Just a few examples proving it can't be New Orleans.

Seems like New Roads makes the paper for corruption a fairly good bit.

It’s because they’re also incompetently managed that people actually want something done about it.
I’ll do you one better that really strikes at the psyche of people. It’s also (IMO moreso) because the official in question becomes an abusive rude a-hole.
Imagine the same Teedy but nice and aw shucks.
Broome seems like this.
In Tammany, Reed and Strain filed for decades but really evolved into insufferable assholes, to say the least. Then later it all comes out.
That’s my theory anyway, still to be fleshed out.

One exception (I think) is Eddie Price, former Mandeville Mayor. I never heard a rude or mean thing about him just that he liked his payolla shite and got taken down.

You will never hear me complaining about someone not paying taxes. frick the government, they don’t deserve any of my money and ain’t done shite to deserve it either. However, an LA sheriff not paying taxes when they’re the ones responsible for collection is pretty rich.

From about Independence north to the state line most of those people's votes are for sale.
Here is one of shadiest characters in the Parish. Dude has been selling himself and buying votes for candidates for more than 30 years.

For 30 years grambling had a corruption case annually. Seems like for the last 10 years they have been pretty clean.

And the sad part is Louisianans actually vote these people in. I worked a few elections while I was at LSU (was a Poli Sci major) and the most common reason why someone voted for someone was because they or somebody else they knew were friends with the candidate's family (local elections of course). It was never about ideas or the intelligence of the candidate. This was pretty common across party, racial, or urban/rural lines.

Why is enforcing speed limits associated with corruption?
Because they will drop the speed quickly to get revenue for their shite hole town to run off of. Usually for the sheriff to run around like a big dog.
Not only that, they prey on the towns people. Grant Parish (and I am sure others) routinely do "Lace Details" or however it is spelled, which is they bring in the LSP for a set number of days to sit around and write as many tickets as possible to increase revenue for the Parish.

I think corrupt politicians being convicted is a good thing. And difficult to do.
Perhaps you’re tilting on the wrong windmill.

Maybe. It’s definitely corrupt.
But it’s more incompetent than corrupt. It’s a close race between the two.
