What's the deal with the Plaza Tower building near the train station in NOLA?

Was in NOLA 2 weeks ago and noticed that this pretty tall building (3rd tallest in NOLA from what I read?) is completely abandoned.

I'm sure this has been covered before on the OT but what's the deal with this building?

It's ugly, but I bet those top floors have cool views.

It's still standing, so that's a leg up (or two legs up?) on the Hard Rock Hotel.

Do you find it attractive?

Would you have sex with it?

I think asbestos is what keeps it from being demolished.

Entire building sold for 650k in 2011. Tells you its condition.

There is enough asbestos in that place to warrant ten more years of mesothelioma commercials.

It has been mostly abandoned since basically the 80s.

First of all, it had major amounts of asbestos. So there needed to be a major asbestos remediation which is part of the reason the building has been sold multiple times for basically nothing. I THINK that has happened.

Second it was a completely terribly designed building. A labyrinth within and just an awful, awful building.

It really needs to come down.

Asbestos and pretty sure it’s leaning. Thing needs to be knocked down, but I’m not sure if there is national historic registry issue with doing that.

What used to be in this building? Office space? Condos?

Didn't mean much for the Lee Circle statue.

It was office space but had issues from day 1 so was always barely occupied from my understanding.

A total boondoggle that may be there until it collapses.
