What's the closest you've come to dying?

It's scary to think that we can die at any moment, but there are also plenty of instances where it seems like your life is in much greater peril.
I have two such scares:
1)My dad and I were caught in a riptide when I was around 15 and it scared the absolute shite out of me. To this day, my dad still swears that he nearly went back under the water for good.
and
2)I fell asleep at the wheel while coming home from Lafayette one night. I was taking the off-ramp towards the mall on I-10 E when my car went down the grass embankment and I lost control. Fortunately, I was able to steer back onto the ramp. I still freak out about how easily I could have hit the concrete wall for the overpass.

Accidental xanax OD & A fight with two other people that lasted a good 15 minutes.
Didn't go to the hospital for either.

car crash on the interstate when I was 17
going 70, fish tailed, spun around, flipped into a ditch
won't go into detail but it wasn't our fault

I've never really been close. Maybe injured severely, but not dying.

Car accident. I was passenger, we were turning left and got t-boned by a sportscar going 50-55. Had they been going a little slower or us a little faster then they would have collided head on with the passenger door. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt and got out of there with only a concussion. I wasn't technically close to dying in a sense of needing to be revived but a few feet one way or the other and I would have gotten fricked up pretty badly.

Ate some lobster and steak.. 15 mins later i was sweating like crazy, started throwing up.. throat closing on me. Rushed to the er where they said i was having allergic reaction to shellfish. Gave me 3 shots, i asked what now.. then they say "we have to see if these shots work" i asked and if they dont... "lets just hope they do" i was freaking out. Blood pressure ended up like 210 over 140 at one point from the epi. Felt like death for a couple weeks, and cant eat shellfish from the on. Happened when i was 26 and ate shellfish my whole life

Jumped off the railroad trestle in Denham Springs into the Amite River when I was younger. It had rained and I didn't realize how bad the current was until I went under. I got turned around and couldn't find the surface... I found the bottom though. I finally popped up about 100 yds down river and had to make my way back.

Twice that I can think of.
First time I was probably 6 or 7. On a trip to a waterpark with a youth group. I was playing around on the rope that divides the deep end from the shallow. I couldn't swim yet, and I slipped off the rope. They pulled me out, did CPR, and I rode in an ambulance to the hospital and stayed overnight for monitoring. If no one had seen me go under and not come back up I'd be gone.
Second time I was 15 and driving back and forth to visit my grandmother in the hospital every day. She had suffered a stroke, and her little town was about 40 minutes from the hospital in Meridian. Mom didn't feel like driving, and I jumped at the chance, with my learners permit. We were going down a hill curving to the left, and coming back up it. I saw a Mack truck stop at the intersection at the top of the hill, then start to pull out, right in front of us. I put the car in the grass, laid on the horn, and looked left as we passed in front of him, and saw those big MACK letters across the grill. I was shaking. Didn't stop shaking until a good half hour after we got there and parked. We were driving a little Nissan 240SX. We would have probably died on impact.

1) Collapsed in the security line with malaria. I had to be rushed to an emergency clinic. Doctor said had I not collapsed before my flight departed I would have likely died in flight. Doctor said at the very best I would have been in a coma when we landed.
2) Was riding passenger seat with a cousin in his truck. We dropped a CD on the floor, I unbuckled to find it. My cousin was watching me instead of the road. He drove us into the ditch and the truck flipped 5 times before landing on its wheels. I was ejected out the rear window and was in the bed of the truck when it stopped flipping.
3) Several near misses offshore.
ETA 4) Car lost traction at 120 mph. Luckily I entered the tally trees passenger side first and was alone.

Multiple blood clots in both lungs. Doc said I had 3 hours to live if they didn't start dissolving.

Probably when I injected 20 oz. of black tar heroin into my anus while hang-gliding over the Atlantic Ocean in a hurricane with a threatened Black Mamba chilling in my pocket.
Was pretty wild.

2)I fell asleep at the wheel while coming home from Lafayette one night. I was taking Hwy 167 down to Abbeville around 4am absolutely exhausted and drunk. Took some back roads and about 1 mile away from my house I fell asleep and spun out slowly creeping into about a 5-foot ditch. Woke up when I felt the hard bumps, turned my wheel left all the way and began spinning out of control near some giant oak trees but came to a complete stop in the middle of the road instead... never again
