Also kidnapped / carjacked at gunpoint. Not sure the young, hoodie wearing lad would have really shot me, but I guess he could have.

I feel quite sure after he was allowed to plead that thing down/do two years, he's learned the error of his ways and turned his life around.

I was about 8 yrs old walking with my cousin on the side of the sidewalk, almost along the curb, during the day. Suddenly I hear a noise and felt the wind of a pick up truck passing by me and going around 30-40 mph. After it passed me, I was able to determine it was a person driving drunk. The pick up truck would go in zig zags and suddenly brake. Then accelerated and kept on going. Scared the shite out of me. Literally it passed by me about a foot distance. Never told my parents.

The time a guy put a gun to my head and pulled the trigger. It jammed but the bastards still managed to hit me 4 times.

Ha! Yeah, right.

Thanks for asking though, it's good to know there's someone else out there concerned about the outcome. The most recent update I've gotten was a hearing for one on Oct. 30 and the start of the other somewhere near the end of November. We'll see though, I'll keep you in the loop if I can.

Damn. My best to you, Cork. Hang in there. You must hate hearing that, but I have no other words.

I've come to accept the fact that things will move forward on their schedule and that no amount of bitching and complaining will do any good. I'll deal with the way I've been treated when it can no longer affect the outcome and I'm not being motivated by frustration, anger, etc. I'm in a pretty good place right now so I'll just keep on keepin' on until I'm told to do otherwise. Thanks again for your support, it means more than you know.

Cork, I am happy that you are in this place. Without getting into details, no one should have to go through what you have been through. Please know that I think about this situation often and hope and pray that you continue to have, or be given, the strength to get through it all.

I am sure that there are many others that are concerned for you also. It's the least I can do. To the extent you find any comfort in my support, it is indeed my honor.

Between semesters in college I got a job building the Schwegmann's cold storage warehouse on Airline near the New Orleans Airport.

We had the roof and sides on the building and were readying the doors when a huge thunderstorm happened. It flooded the building with about 2 feet of water. We had a deadline to meet and draining the building was S L O W! The site engineers met and decided that the best way to drain the building was to drill through the slab since it was raised a few feet off the ground.

They set me up with a Hiltidrill, and luckily, some rubber gloves and boots and instructed me to start drilling holes in the slab.

I had probably drilled about a dozen holes when all of a sudden I heard a large bang and all the lights went out in the building. My foreman came over and pinched me and I asked him why he did that.

He told me that he was just checking to see if I were still alive since I had just drilled into a 220 line. Gloves and boots saved me, I guess.

On my way to go fishing one morning before sun up. The fog was really thick and had very little visibility. Cruising at about 65 in the right lane and all of a sudden a truck passes me on the wrong side of the highway in the left lane. So I missed a head on collision at 65-70.

Overdosed in the middle on Mag.St. Completely quit breathing and heart stopped. AmberLamps pulls up and they were trying to get me in back on the Ride when a off duty doc from Tulane that had been helping me doing CPR called "bullshite" and went in back of the ambulance himself and rolled out the paddles because he told the EMTs that there was no way they had time to get me loaded without me not being at the least a completely brain vegetable. So the Miracle doc from that saved my life and then called it a day.

And those paddles, yeah you don't want those paddles... Those bitches HURT. Not hurt as in at the moment or at the act of doing them... no it hurts later like your muscles in your chest and shoulders and neck and back and over your ribs, or just RIPPED to shreds... Like that would have been a really super bad arse workout to do a damage like I had in my chest after the paddles... don't want that shite
