I used a broom duct taped to an extension pole.

Assuming it's an A-frame, just put the ladder on the front and climb up and try to push the snow down from the top off of the sides. If he heats the shed up first and has a metal roof with no gutters, it could slide off.

Spent 2 hours with a shovel and push broom. The top layer of snow came off pretty easy. The frozen layer of ice was about 1” thick and had to use a shovel to pry it off. The push broom worked pushing the ice chunks off until it started freezing and weighed about 25 lbs on one end. I feel better with all that weight off.
