What's the best test to see how healthy your heart is?

Just turned 35 and I've met my deductible for the year

I'm in good shape and eat very healthy, however my dad had bypass surgery at 39 so you can never be too safe

I know the obvious answer is a stess test, but I've heard mixed reviews

Any other tests that a cardiologist can do? Just trying to see what my next steps are to make sure my arteries and heart are good

Watch the 2011 LSU-Bama game and see if you make it thru.

Go to your primary physician and tell him you're concerned. He'll run tests and refer you to a cardiologist if you need one.

You are always so concerned about your health on here. You need help.

They can do an ultrasound of your heart. It's fancy. I had one done when I was really healthy just to get fully checked out for my high blood pressure. Ridley's mom did mine in Natchez. They can see all the flow and check out things MUCH better than a doctor can.
Combine with an EKG and you'll be set.

Treadmill Stress Test, but doctors don't like doing this test on young people like you.

Like I said I'm very healthy but my dad ran cross country in college and was very active and had bypass at 39.

Don't think it's bad to be overly cautious

Read his posts. Iron deficiency, he has body dysmorphic disorder which has caused him to not eat enough (he's 5'11" and weighs under 150 pounds), and now this.

He has mental issues that he's not addressing. He needs help.

from my experience, usually doctors can do an EKG and tell if something is wrong. Ultrasounds also. Stress tests I don't know too much about. I have had a couple and both sucked.
