I think you are underestimating how expensive it is to "fix ugly." We're not talking about a couple touch-ups.

A partner who is ok being the Beta to the others Alpha, or vice versa.

My 1st wife and I grew apart because of different long term goals, and the wants/needs of each other.

She wanted to go here, and I wanted to go there.
Didn't start off that way, but after a couple years into our marriage ended up that way.
She was not a complete psycho, so the disillusionment wasn't too expensive.

80% of women are at the least attractive and men would sleep with them.

The difference between MOST women and why men stare.

c) personality - definitely necessary to get along

Undersold. While the first two are VERY important... If you want a LONG term relationship this is pretty important. A man can only frick so many times in a day.

a) personality
b) body
c)politics
d) face

cant be around someone who is a complete a-hole or idiot.

how one cares for their body tells a lot about who they are and how they respect their partner.

i can live with someone with different political views as long as they arent a fanatic

face is least important, i find very few people just have a completely unacceptable face.

edit: E. this trumps all else....filthy fricking rich.

You better make sure you pick someone you enjoy spending time with because if your marriage lasts both of your looks will decline as you age.

I couldn't be married to left wing progressive because I don't think our values would align and I wouldn't want her raising my children but I could deal with someone that's apolitical.

How can a personal trainer train someone to not be ugly? I think you are confusing out of shape with being ugly.

plastic surgery cannot fix ugly either... actually it makes attractive people less attractive 99% of the time.

now if someone has jacked up teeth, a good oral surgeon can probably fix that ONE aspect of being ugly, but the rest of the ugly remains.

"Politics" is difficult to contain in a box, because to me, there are certain political items that are aligned with someone's values, and others that aren't. I'm Catholic and would not date/marry someone that doesn't closely align to my beliefs, which includes the same views on things like abortion, marriage, gender, etc.

1) Religious/cultural values (including certain political topics, e.g., abortion)
2a) Body that's not obese/very out of shape
2b) Face
2c) Personality
5) Body that has curves
6) Other political topics (guns, taxes, foreign policy, military, spending, immigration, monetary policy, etc.)

2a-c are more or less equal and probably "deal-breakers", along with 1. Of course, there's a wide range/lots of variety on types of faces and personalities that I find attractive (less gray area/wiggle room on the values) but she does have to have a face/personality that I enjoy.

5 and 6 are nice-to-haves, not deal-breakers.

There is good and bad debt. A $300K mortgage on a nice house that she religiously pays every month is very different than $10K in credit card debt and $100K in student loans that paid for a sociology degree that she's paying on an income-based plan.

Great point. I meant bad debt though and should have clarified better. I agree with you 100%. At 52 years old I’ve seen a lot of people marry into bad debt and it just chop them at the knees. Some holes are just so deep it can take decades or a lifetime to dig out of.
