I umpired baseball from the time I was 16 until I was 22. Mostly youth league but a few jr high / JV games.
I would work youth games every day pretty much all of May and June. Would make about $2000 after dues and uniforms / equipment,
When I got to college I got involved with officiating intramurals. I would do volleyball, flag football, softball. The college had a deal with one of the local youth flag football leagues where would work Saturday games. We also would work beer league softball games.
I’ve always said maybe when the kids are out the house I might get back to it.

Stick together. Jr high games are a mixed bag but unless you are a floater and fill in when needed, you will be with your crew if you are on one each week in HS

I have a good friend that refs Basketball only. He makes about 20-25k a year. He does HIgh School, Middle School, AAU, and some low level college. Loyola type games. His biggest money maker is AAU, he'll travel out of state and make $1000-1500 in 3-4 days, and they pay all of his travel.
I know a couple guys that do HS/MS football. They get $50-60 for MS. Being a clock operator is where its at. Run the clock (only stop and start, not the score) and get paid $10 less than the field refs.

I know a guy who used to post on here that did high school football for years. He has worked his way up into NCAA level.
Another guy I worked with obviously started in high school and was a referee in last year's Super Bowl.
