Postal workers are too lazy to deal with heavy or large packages

In my neighborhood in Gonzales, sometimes I get mail delivered twice a day, other days, the outgoing mail is not even picked up. The mail lady drives around with music plugs in her ears. I really think that drivers of vehicles like that should have their ears “open”.
We could possibly have the same people delivering our mail. Sometimes it's a lady and I am pretty sure she has music plugs.. And on a Saturday, a few times, I've seen a mail truck come in the neighborhood in the morning then later that day another one comes around. I am just curious as to what kind of system they have in place..

The only thing i use USPS for from my mailbox is to receive mail. I don't recall the last time I sent mail out that way...

It’s probably your regular carrier in the morning and then someone who is just delivering packages comes later. Or vice versa. The packages are obviously crazy this time of year so they call in the subs to deliver some of the regular’s packages so everything gets delivered that day.

For 35 years I’ve used usps and ups daily at work. Today’s employees stink at their jobs. Especially the last 5 years. Every single day the mailman and ups guy/girl is busy talking on the blue tooth delivering half stuff wrong. Every freaking day. They are pathetic. Ups comes every day at 11:00 - 12:00 and every day the dude is yapping on his Bluetooth. It’s almost amazing really.

I own an apparel company and spend $30k+ a year with the USPS. I ship worldwide. They've never lost a package in the seven years of use. They are always consistent and traceable to the door. Keep in mind that all expected delivery dates are estimated. With that said, they're on time delivery rates with my packages are at or near 99%. I ship approximately 7000 packages a year. I have no complaints with the USPS.
I have a small side company that has shipped primarily via USPS for 17 years and over 100,000 packages and I have been extremely happy with them. It is very rare that a priority package is late and first class is usually as quick as priority to most areas. They have lost 2 packages during that time, missorted about 5 (so they were 2-3 days late) and had one package literally show up 11 months after it was mailed but the speed/cost/effectiveness simply can't be beaten by any other carrier.
That said individual letter carriers have a large impact on people's opinions of the postal service, I have had 4 different ones in my adult life and they have all been great, while I know I have been lucky the postal service is an easy target.

My mail man doesn't even wear a uniform. Looks like some heavy metal guy.
And why are ALL mail persons on their phone the entire time they're working? Who the frick is talking to them?

They will deliver packages on Sunday.
The guy that delivers your mail will not necessarily deliver your other packages.
You can have your regular mail delivered in the A.M. then have a package delivered in the evening by a different USPS carrier from a package center. Not a mail center.
I've learned about this after last week they said they tried but couldn't deliver a package at my house at 7:26 pm. I checked my security cam and watched the guy flying by my house, out of the neighborhood, at 7:15pm and never stopped. Regular mail came at 11am that same day.

I was supposed to have a package delivered Friday by 8 pm, I got a text notification "we attempted but were unable to deliver". There was no note left with any information. I checked the tracking number, and it said I had to come in to the post office to pick it up. Saturday morning I drive to the post office by my house, and they say the other post office (4 miles away) is the one that services my house. So I drive across town, then wait in line there about 20 mins. When it's finally my turn, the guy working there looks it up and says - "oh, they delivered it about 15 minutes ago". Well I clearly wasn't home - so how were they able to leave the package at my doorstep Saturday morning, but not Friday? Obviously they never came Friday. BTW, while I was in line at the PO, I overheard another customer say the same thing - he had a message "we attempted but were unable to deliver" and no other information. Looks like the post office is promising Amazon the ability to provide 2-day and same day delivery, but when they can't fulfill that they blame the customer.

The Postal Service employs two tiers of workers now: 1) the permanent long-term employees with full benefits and pension possibilities; and 2) the "scab"-like fill-in temp workers who are employed for 360 days of the year, then laid off at the end of the year, only to be rehired if they are semi-competent. The #2 category has come to prominence in the wake of the Postal Service's deal with the Devil, i.e., its deal with Amazon to deliver packages on Sundays. The #2 category is worked to death with the vague promise of going full-time permanent (evolving to category #1 status) if they hang on for 2 to 5 years working six and seven days a week as fill-ins for permanents. I have been unemployed for too long now, and in desperation almost took one of these postal scab jobs, but in the end I couldn't deal with the idea of putting up with the wannabe/minor-league drill-sergeant mentality of modern-day postal supervisors.

The Postal Service is so dysfunctional and inefficient that a week after I no-showed for my first USPS employee orientation session, I got a Priority Mail package delivered to my doorstep -- a welcome grab-bag complete with "Made in China" postal gear: a USPS ballcap, plastic water bottle, lanyard, and plastic drawstring tote bag. One USPS hand doesn't know what the other USPS hand is doing -- total disconnect.

This is a problem in society at large right now. It's infecting the younger generations. There's nothing wrong with blue collar jobs, manual labor, and starting out at the bottom of the ladder.

Atlanta, city of, runs mail 7 days a week and I see USPS trucks out as late as 9pm during the holidays.

We might live in the same neighborhood. No mail was delivered to my house yesterday, either. Last week my mail lady came to my door to get me to sign for a package and told me she had been out sick quite a bit and that she had to get caught up because there were quite a few complaints on this route.
