One of those white-guilt country artists who try way too hard to prove how tolerant and open-minded they are. "See? I'm not really a redneck!"

What Garth did retiring to raise his kids was pretty badass.

Agree he cries at the drop of a hat. Sounds like a douche calling Trish Miss Yearwood

Played my club in September of 1989. Super nice guy. Was apologizing for not selling out the club. Had a return date for March 1990 for 5,000. He had exploded by then but honored all his existing gigs on the books. Never forgot who his friends were on the way up.

Used to work w/a guy who met Garth and said that he was one of the nicest SOB's he'd evee met.

And FWIW, Garth and Trisha come back to Monticello, GA(Trisha's hometown and 45 mins from my house) once a year to give a scholarship to a student to attend Piedmont Academy, a K-12 private school in Monticello that Trisha's parents helped to build. And they always do this w/very little fanfare.

They are good people. Never understood this board's weird hate of him. Seems very insecure..

Talented performer but fake as fake gets as a person. I don't think he's an a-hole in real life but his "aw shucks" persona is lame as shite.

this. i don't think he's a bad person, but i do think he's a fake person that takes political positions contrary to his actual beliefs to score points.

I'd believe this and don't doubt for one bit that he's a nice guy. I also think he comes across as fake a lot in his specials and TV appearances.

Not every song has to have a story behind it. Especially when you didn't even write it in the first place.

ETA: Most of his band has been touring with him for 25-30 years, so he must be a decent guy behind the scenes. They could all get a job touring with anyone if they threw Garth Brooks on the resume and they probably all did exactly that while he was "retired" to raise his kids and then came back.

He is a straight up libtard, dousche nozzle, useful idiot. That being said, I am glad I'm not like a lot of the crazy socialists and can still enjoy being entertained by those I whole-heartedly disagree with. That is, until it comes out that they are one of the elitist pedo's.

I went to a K-12 private school and we used to play Piedmont, of never heard that story

I'm not a country music fan but like a lot of people my age his songs were a part of my childhood. I've never really thought about him as a person but this thread makes me want to watch/listen to him just to see the cringe

I find him to be a plastic, sterile fella that does nothing of note. Why people listen to him or his music is beyond me.
