It’s simple. If EBR can’t do basic services that a functioning municipality is supposed to do, stop treating it as a functioning municipality…

Stack up your stuff on the side of the road and BURN IT.

If they want to act like a third world country, treat it as such !

Once per week out-of-cart service will be provided for items that do not easily fit in a garbage cart, such as:

brush, branches, and tree trimmings

It seems like they are supposed to but contingent on this.

Let's evaluate.

quote:

I have had a brush pile out front for a month now

Hmm, I may see an issue.

quote:

brush, branches, and tree trimmings should be in bundles

Also this may impact you.

quote:

brush, branches, and tree trimmings should not exceed the following size limitations:
maximum of 5 feet in length
maximum of 6 inches in diameter
bags, brush, branches, and tree trimmings should not exceed 40 pounds per item

And possibly this once you bundle stuff.

quote:

a maximum of 10 out-of-cart items per collection day

What exactly did you expect when you posted on the OT?

But based on what you posted, you had a pile of brush at the road. I inferred from that post that the brush was not in bundles.

Also based on what you posted the following appears to be true:

If you didn't bundle your brush they won't pick it up.

If you make the individual bundle heavier than 40 pounds, they won't pick it up.

If you have more than 10 bundles, they won't pick them up, or at least not more than 10 of them.

I thought it was obvious that was what I meant from what I posted but who knows?

They're still picking my stuff up. Haven't noticed much of a difference.

One thing BR does well imo

call your councilman. They can get the claw truck to go out and get it.

Can confirm. Had an issue in my neighborhood, emailed Rowdy and it was taken care of the next day.

ooks like they should pick up brush once a week.

Alexandria will let it sit for weeks. But if you take it to the dump site it costs like 25 bucks and you gotta wear a hard hat and safety vest to go.

Seems the city would just make a deal with the dump to allow residents to dump for free. Pay a flat fee and I am sure the dump would be fine with it, and then it would decrease demand on the city significantly.

We would all have fewer dead spots by the road where it sits for weeks.

If you are an EBRP resident and bring a copy of your last water bill with you to the dump, you get two free dumps a month.

They have a scale house when you enter. Stop at the scale house give them your water bill and driver’s license to prove you are an EBRP resident. They give you a slip to sign.
When you exit go to the other side of the scale house to park on the scale, walk to window to make sure everything good. Sign the slip again, and leave. It pretty simple.

They have a residential area to the right of the scale house made for residential dumping only. All concrete road and turn onto a huge concrete area that off the ground. Back up to a slot and stop before you hit the barrier. You throw your stuff off the side and it goes into a roll off below.

Only time you will get close to where the trucks go is to throw away fridge, lawnmower, and other appliances. They have a metal pile to the left.

The way they have it made this keeps people away from the garbage trucks unloading and nasty part of the dump.

my pile is like 12' long and 4-5 feet tall.. i guess i just got to split it?

Probably so. They don't have the claw trucks so if it looks too big or heavy to pick up by hand they'll skip it.

I asked a few council people what happened in the bid.

They came in too low for most companies to want the bid, especially with boom trucks.

Richards did negotiate to get 1 boom truck. Which 1 is better than 0.
I would not blame Richard’s. I would blame the metro council not having enough vision to see that #1 trucks are hard to get, cost of boom trucks is going up, and maybe not communicating with the public about the changes.

Myself I would add compactor stations all over the parish to accommodate citizens especially on weekends. They had this setup back in the day before the contract with Republic.

I think operating cost hit EBRP Government and they did not want to pass it on to consumers.

Put the brush in your truck bed and at night and dump it in a debris pile, burn pile or dumpster at a construction site.

Was this voted on? If not, why?

How does this benefit the citizens of Louisiana in any way?
Also, I'm sure we are paying the same amount, if not more for less services.

What about those that don't have the space for large fires for bulk items? They should go start fires on the lawns of politicians that allowed this.

I absolutely love Louisiana's culture and people. But we sure do have some fricked up politicians, and infrastructure.

I guess they don't run the grappler truck anymore with the change. Probably has to be a size a person can lift. They probably still take the same volume just in smaller chunks.
