I would have no problems living in either Columbus or Baton Rouge.

Me either. It's probably my favorite city in Ohio. I posted this earlier in the thread but I used to go work on projects that lasted several months at a time. Columbus was one of those places.

awful weather
Such as the soft, 57 degree nighttime air as I post this. Yep, it's just terrible

Ice storms, colder weather than the majority of the south, bad hail and tornadoes. Yeah...no thanks.

also think BR could up their game in the Mexican food department.

They have a better Mexican food scene than Nola does

La Morinita has better tacos than anywhere in New Orleans.

Juan's Flying Burrito has better burritos than anywhere in Baton Rouge.

If youre looking for legit Mexican food, not texmex, go to La Mexicana in Gonzales. Bit of a hidden gem imo.

Gonzales also has El Mescal. Since Gonzales is in the BR metro area, I think we can declare BR>NOLA for Mexican food

New Orleans wins for everything else, though.

Appreciation of what we have is NOT settling. I wasn’t content with our music scene, so I got involved in it and tried to change it for the better. By taking something I love and doing just a little more than nothing (because I wasn’t satisfied) I helped over half a dozen bands get started, just by bringing people together that had similar goals. Those bands spawned a dozen other bands and a scene was vastly improved. By going into bars that only booked cover bands and begging them to let us do one night of originals, we proved they could make MORE money and sell MORE drinks with original bands. Now, they book at least 1 night of original bands every month. I’ve done that with half a dozen venues and have my eye on a dozen more. We can do the same with government. .

This is a very delusional post and quite frankly just a bunch of bullshite. KingCringe'd

I'm from BR but Nola gets shite on too much here too. I've lived in both cities. Nola is one of the most interesting cities in the world. And LA Tienda has a solid taco menu in BR.

Sorry I didn't get enough jam bands started to meet your more patrician sensibilities.

B'ham wouldn't be that bad if not for the Bama fans everywhere.

I prefer Memphis or Atlanta if I have to move to a big southern city.

I'd put the tacos at Taq Guerrero in New Orleans & Taq Chilangos in Kenner against anything else I've had in the state. I've moved away since the Chilangos owner died, so I can't attest to its current state.

I propose a Taco off. You get tacos to go from those places, I'll grab tacos to go from La Morenita and we'll meet in Gonzales at El Mescal to see who wins. The answer is, everyone because tacos are delicious.

Long trip.... I'd kill for some $1 Chilangos tacos right about now.

Perhaps we could organize some kind of "Louisiana Taco Festival" presented by Louisiana Hot Sauce.

There'll be tacos, and jam bands, and blackjack, and cocaine, and hookers! You know what, forget about the tacos, jam bands, and blackjack.

Chilangos won top taco at the New Orleans inaugural taco fest last year.

I will definitely check them out then next time I'm down there. I don't spend as much time in Kennahbrah as I used to when my brother lived down there, but I'm sure I'll have an excuse some time soon.

The best thing about Baton Rouge is seeing it in your rear view mirror.
