Any number of Atlantic coast towns in Mexico that I experienced when working down there in the oil patch for Andrew Martin back in the day. When you are about 10 miles out at sea all that pretty green jungle looks like paradise, and then you get closer to the ship channel and you start smelling it.................and you do not want to run out of groceries down there, especially meat. When to the meat house down there. Big mistake.

Jea, I've been to Brazil too. Anything south of Rio isn't too bad. The thing is though, everything down there is boring as hell (south of Rio that is).

The Republic of Georgia might be interesting. It seems they are starting to hit their stride economically. Good spot to put a bit of venture capital to use. Also, very friendly and unworldly people that want to learn and want to prosper. Like I say, seems a good place for investing.

Turkey isnt a shithole country. Place is nice as frick. Would rather live there than under American democrats

Is this a recent development? Because Turkey has had a reputation as a shitty place to be avoided all of my life.

When I was a teenager in the 80's, and the Army would send recruiters to my high school, and they'd lay their pamphlets out on a table for kids walking by, and one of them ("This is the Army in Europe") was for selling you on joining the Army so you could experience Europe. The idea was to sell American teenagers on glorious dreams of London theaters, Italian beaches, and German villages with busty blondes and beer-halls. But they had to put a disclaimer on the back of the pamphlet for new recruits applying for European duty:

"NOTE: MAY INCLUDE DUTY IN TURKEY"

Seems word got around pretty fast that Turkey was shite duty.

A few spots in India: Taj Mahal, Kashmir, etc.

Same for South Africa and Namibia.

Probably won’t ever chance them, there’s too much still left to see in the un-shithole countries for me.

Some of these aren’t shitholes:

I want to go skiing in Tajikistan.
Massive bazaar in Turkmenistan.
Mountains and coffee plantations in the Angolan countryside.
Svalbard
Lake Baikal
Republic of Georgia
Timbuktu
