Hey now, I've seen more black/hipster nerds in recent years that ever before.

I felt more comfortable when it was this way.

How many of you would let your kid ride a city bus at that age?

A kid that spends all day with their tablet doesn’t know how to ride their bike and their parents won’t let them leave their yard

THIS! That commercial bugs the hell out of me. She's doing all these smart looking things on the ipad, she knows damn well what a computer is. It could have ended in so many better sayings. That commercial epitomizes what I hate about some young people, this entitled young generation.

Agreed. I hate their commercials in general.

That kid is on the show Better Things on FX. She plays Frankie. All the chicks have guys names. So there's that!

Here is a story about the show...apparently the little creature from the commercial plays a character that has "gender ID issues" also.

quote:

Better Things' first season ended with questions over whether one of Sam's (Pamela Adlon) daughters, Frankie (Hannah Alligood), might identify as a gender other than female. But when the Emmy-nominated FX comedy returns next month, fans shouldn't expect any cut-and-dry resolution to what Frankie's going through.

"I think questions like these should be directed towards Pamela and anybody else involved with the writing process because I don't know, and I think that's the point — is that nobody really knows what's going on with Frankie because she's at this stage in her life where everything's confusing," Alligood tells TV Guide.

What kind of bullshite is this? Everything is confusing? Well let me help you. Look between your legs. If there is something hanging down a little you are a boy. If not you are a girl. Problem solved.

quote:

In Better Things' first season finale, "Only Women Bleed," Sam had to meet with the school principal after Frankie got in trouble for using the boys' bathroom. Frankie tells Sam that she doesn't identify as male, but simply thinks middle school girls are "disgusting." However, when Sam discusses the incident with her eldest daughter Max (Mikey Madison), she matter-of-factly tells her mother, "Frankie's a boy." After this revelation, it appears to dawn on Sam that Max is correct, but the issue is left at that.

For fricks sake...do people actually watch this shite?

I take it I'm fortunate not to have seen this commercial.

95% of ads are bad enough, but to have one run 4 pages and have so many people triggered, I don't need to see it.

Okay, who exactly is that guy? OTers always post his picture. Is it from a commercial?

My problem isn’t so much the line as how it’s delivered. The woman asks the kid a question and the kid snaps a smart-arse answer back at her, then immediately turns right back to her computer and ignores the woman.

fricking rude. If an adult takes the time to acknowledge your pathetic arse, you answer, kid. And be respectful. Kid is an a-hole.

And the kid is also a fantasy of some commercial ad writer. Urban pixie nomad kid doesn’t exist in real life. In real life, if you’re hanging out at Tony’s Taco Stand and riding public buses all over town, you wind up sold to a pedophile sheik in Yemen after being kidnapped by human traffickers.

Somewhat related to the ire for this commercial - are all the beta millennials wearing beards to compensate for the fact they have nothing else to demonstrate masculinity?

I do. It's a pretty good show. Not the formulaic crap you see on most shows.

Pamela Adlon (the lead) is a longtime collaborator with Louis CK, and the girls who play her daughters are good little actresses.
