Private school tuition money sets you apart from lower middle class, especially for multiple kids even if it does cause some belt-tightening in other places.

Cue the political replies…
Policy is why you see zombies and open drug use in the cities.
Policy is why our government is the largest human trafficker in the world but doesn’t have money for NC.

I think those are mostly the Mexicans now. Just my stereotype response.

Making the most money possible regardless of the consequences is moral, right and just. It was those companies’ duty to sell the highest margin product to you even if that meant the product was at significantly lower quality than previously produced.
I'd argue that going for short term profits over everything is now showing to be detrimental for the long term success of a company.

Fair enough. Although a third of it is paid for by Florida school choice, a third by my wife doing some work for the school for tuition reduction, and a third by the belt tightening

They still exist but only have one kid now because of inflation and NAFTA.

Cars got better over a 2 decade span, you don't say?
Yes, and all that new technology and safety costs money. Which is why people had cheap car notes back then.
Which means they had more disposable income.

They have formed gangs and are currently bringing crime to cities and towns across America according to this elected US representative.

Why they gotta be white?

Chopped all their dicks off and enrolled them in welfare.

That trickle down wasn’t economics

Look at Married with Children.
Al Bundy worked as a shoe store salesman in Chicago and lived out in the suburbs in a two story house with a stay at home wife and 2 children. He did drive a beat up old Dodge that barely worked, and Peg never cooked so they were not on government assistance.
Now, I think that house that is shown in the show is valued over 500k. No a way someone making just above minimum wage can afford just the insurance on the house. Heck, Al couldn’t even afford workplace insurance for his family. He would get a bill instead of a Paycheck thanks to Obamacare. On top of all of that the Mall where Al worked is probably closed and now an Amazon Distribution Center. Liability insurance on the hopefully paid off Dodge would also exceed his income with 2 under 25 something’s on the policy.
Heck even their neighbors the D’Arcy’s couldn’t afford their lifestyle. I know she was a bank manager, but unless she was in the corporate structure (VP or President of a Division) she too would have issues affording that house and a Marcedes (misspelled on purpose because that was how Al pronounced it.).

JFK/LBJ were the first to try trickle down, and it worked.
But to answer the quesiton, the middle class has been pushed out by progressive monetary policy.
1) Debasing of the dollar
2) Importing millions of lowly educated people to drive wages down
3) Establishing relations with China
4) Way too many spending programs and deficit spending
Theyre doing this on purpose. The goal is to have a nation like California, where the middle class is vanishing, and the poor and wealthy thrive.
Liberal spending policies benefit the rich.

That was basically my family growing up. To be honest I don't know how my parents did it.
We were talking about this the other day. My dad was a shift supervisor at a chemical plant and mom a school teacher. Back in 1995 they bought a custom newly built 3600 Sq ft house in Prairieville fof 197,000.
I can't imagine those two jobs, teacher in particular, have increased in pay enough to be able to come close to affording that same house now.
So they did it because cost were nowhere close to what they are today.

In debt up to their eye balls trying to live up to unrealistic expectations society places upon them to demonstrate to the world that they are a success in life.

I'd love to go back to the early 70s, monetarily.

Because both need the federal printing press to survive. The industrial might that the middle class was built on got shipped south of the border and overseas.
