From the article, it looks like a lot of shite had to come together to make the theme park happen. And when one thing goes down da terlet, it's not long before the rest of the project goes with it.

That whole thing was the pipe dream of one dude who used to work at a theme park in some capacity. He had an FB page and would constantly talk about his grand ideas and how they had funding and anyone was allowed to invest for $10,000 per share, etc etc. I messaged him a few times to troll/see what it was about. Shockingly all a bunch of hot air. Though he did try to keep the dream alive with a “planned” indoor theme park for Las Vegas called “The Incredible World of Dr. Friday” or something.
Edit: just looked back at my messages. He was offering private shareholders 1% of profits in the first five years. Said he had a feasibility study that showed 1% of profits to be over $1,000,000.

From the linked WWL article:
quote:IOW, it was pie-in-the-sky then. Nobody wanted to put up much of their own money on it--probably wisely. The idea that it might get built was at most quite speculative.
waits on investors ... may be close to finding money

I think the headline of the article you posted answers your question

$400 million Houma amusement park waits on investors

There was also no confidence in the developer to deliver.
If you ever heard this dude speak you wouldn’t have much confidence either lol.

They decided to build it in Lacassine instead.

I’m a theme park estimator (client side). $400M now either doesn’t get you shite or the crappiest little park you could imagine. Would have just been a waste of space.

Last time I saw the dudes FB page (probably a couple years ago now) he was still trying to keep the grift alive.

I met him several times. Trust me when I say he has no idea what he’s doing.
Funny thing is, he’s still posting “renderings” of the theme park as if it’s going to happen.

Someone posted the Facebook Group. “The Incredible World Of Dr Friday “.
This guy has “stay with the con power” like Gravy Chambers.
He is still trying to hustle money by posting cartoon renderings of his project. He is El Toro Poo Poo.
He is going to build the “first “ project in Las Vegas to see how it goes. Then maybe branch to Houma.

They should bring back Waterland USA first- now, that place was fabulous.

Even if they were to build it, good luck finding people to work.
