This was huge for us. My mother in law came stay with us for the first two weeks and she had no problem with us waking her up during the night to hold her when she wouldn’t stop screaming.

Because maybe I would've, but that's a different life.

I wouldn't have been a good father, as a Sith..it never usually works out.

There is a special bond between grandparents and grandkids that is incredibly underrated. My oldest absolutely loves time spent with his grandmother and it is mutual since she never had a son of her own.

That it’s never too early to start teaching your children proper manners and how to respect others. It’s the foundation of the kind of person they will be in the future. I see so many disrespectful kids out in public these days and it makes my skin crawl.

How you treat their mother is how they will

Boy- treat other women

Girl- expect to be treated

Call your daughter’s boyfriend the wrong name. Preferably the name of the last one.

How much the raging Feminist - Climate Change - Global Warming Loonytoons hate families with children. Had we known that? We would've had three more.

Here Lurch (John Kerry) this is for you.

When your kid plays sports just drop them off at practice. They don’t need you there.

When they have a game be their biggest fan and do not be their biggest critic. It’s their life to live, not you doing a do over through them.

This is what drives me crazy about my in-laws with my daughter. She’ll be doing something cute, I’ll be making a memory of it, then my mother in law will scream “Somebody get a picture of that!!!” Drives me nuts because now instead of enjoying the moment I’m having to get my phone out.

Sounds simple, but I wish I had known in general how to care for kids a little bit. I had hardly ever held a baby before I held my own, had never changed a diaper, never fed a baby, none of that. I wasted some of the most precious moments of my life stressing out about what to do l.

This is the one thing that has me feeling way better with #2 just a couple weeks away.

Sure, I now know the "joys" that await me this summer but at least I can hold the kid and change a diaper no problem.

I get what you’re saying. However I randomly pulled out my phone and just recorded non events when my kids were small. Just hanging at the house, or out for a walk.
I created a private YouTube channel and uploaded dozens of videos when they were little. We get a huge kick out of watching those videos all these years later.

Also, if your wife is going to keep working, go ahead and get on a waiting list for daycare. If there’s no waiting list, don’t take your kid there.

Be their parent first, and their friend second. I see too many parents try and be their children’s best friend. Don’t be the travel ball parent that needs to dress, have the newest, and coolest stuff just to keep up with the others.

Teach them to be their own person, and not care about what everyone else is doing, or acting like.

When they are watching tv, turn on the closed captioning. Believe it or not, it helps teach them to read.

Finally, enjoy every second you can with them. They grow up too fast, and you’ll blink and they’re in high school. Spend every minute you can with them. Don’t put work or anything else before them.

Being half-adopted, I had 3 sets of grandparents. All 3 grandfathers were amongst the best men I'd even known and they can't even hold a candle to my grandmothers.
