That's fair and that's what most people do. They live where they grew up because they're comfortable there. However, there's also an opportunity here that has to be weighed. He's not just moving there. There is a family business in place for him to take over that could yield a huge reward in the future. The primary thing I'd be looking at as the business seems to be on firm financial ground is what his equity position will be and what control will he have over operations and the sale of the company if and when he wants to sell.

I moved often about this country when I was younger in business. Half of my family is literally scattered from one side of this country to the other, and I have a difficulty in coming up with up sides where I live at times, but I'm just not moving just to move anymore. If an when I make a move out of this place, it will be for a significant jump in quality of life, and a place I actually want to live.

I would never live in the Mid west or North. I travel in those regions for work, and it is dreadful.

I would be living in the north right now if it wasn't for the cold winters.

I don't like cold or snow but I'd get a place up north for summers. October I'm out though

Already lived up north once after college. It was interesting and I think it's good for everyone to live in a different part of the country just to have some different perspectives. You can always move back to your original area if you don't like it.

I have the luxury right now of snow birding between appy/SW Va, Portland Maine and considering a move back to BR/S.La ( ).

It is a pretty remarkable as i am in Va right now and the weather has been fantastic and I am able to fish just about every day in Va and could do so in La and Maine if i choose to, it would just be much more of an inconvenience and i live to stream fish, so hauling a yak all over S. La while trying to fight bugs doesn't appeal to me right now and i would be in Maine fighting tourist season which is a nightmare right now.

I lived in Va until 19 when i moved to S. La, I was planning a move around this year right before the floods and was looking at a place in college town off of Highland. It took me a total of three days to come to the conclusion that BR is just to OOC with traffic and culcha for me to buy a permanent residence, even though i could sell it fairly easily i think and make my money back.

I'm not a fan of the midwest, great people but it is just something about being landlocked in the middle of the country without access to quality sushi that scares me.

me too, the north has a lot of benefits over the south

BUT there is a reason why seasonal depression is so widespread up there though

never again will i put myself into that situation.

It gets pretty depressing if you aren't passionate about skiing, snowmobiling, or some other winter activity. It's as if you lose 3+ months every year.

That's how I felt about the South from May - October.

In general, Rocky Mountain States and Northwest have a high level of satisfaction with life. The main issue I have with the Midwest is the lack of mountains, not the cold.

Ive lived in NEPA and loved it. The job market was not good so I returned to Baton Rouge. I miss the mountains, seasons and living in the middle of no where.

Snow and winter tempuratures varies by location. I doubt I would move anywhere the average temperature is single digits tho same as I would never live in Las Vegas because of the heat.
