I have friends driving from Alabama to Nashville to watch it tomorrow.
What traffic can they expect? Do yall know anyone else who will be driving to a special eclipse area?

I figured that they had better leave very early just to be sure. I'd hate to have driven 3 to 4 hours only to get stuck in traffic and miss out on the 2 minutes of darkness.

I've already heard of extra traffic over the weekend in the small towns in Oregon.

Ha. Your friends are idiots.

Seriously, hotels have been booked for months. Traffic is going to be a nightmare. I've already booked lodging in the path of totality for the NEXT eclipse in 2024.

I agree.

They drove to all the way to Washington, DC just to Easter Egg hunt with their kids on the White House lawn.

Going to be a ton of rear-end wrecks. And news outlets have already warned about the traffic.

Yes. It's all interstate and its about a 3+ hour (normally) drive from here to Nashville.
They were planning on leaving about 7 AM , with the eclipse coming at 1:30

Because just a couple hundred miles is the diff between 70 percent blockage and a total eclipse.

I'm considering calling out of work tomorrow just to avoid it. They'd be better off just staying home too.

Dumb choice. Last I heard we're expecting an additional million people in the Nashville metro area. If you've seen how bad traffic gets on a regular monday.. well.. that's nothing compared to the shitshow that is about to happen.

I'm not even going to work frick. That.

In Goodlettsville, TN just north of Nashville. Just spoke with police officers in city park and they said population is 16,000 and right now they have more than quadruple that and expecting 150,000 visitors here. There's license plates from all over and all hotels are booked but the highways weren't as congested as I thought they'd be getting up here but people showed up throughout the weekend. Tomorrow night may be much worse when everyone's heading out of town at the same time.
