I helped my dad mow grass in the spring and summer. I had football and basketball practice from late July until late February. I got a truck to drive to school, insurance paid, and $20 a week for gas and whatever I could by on weekends with left over money.
Gas was .79 a gallon, tacos were .39 each, 12 pack of natural ice was $3.99

8.00 hr cash at a chicken house
.25 a bale hauling hay
Thought I was rich in high school in the 90’s running those 3 jobs.

One summer I made $12 an hour working construction with 3 of my baseball teammates for one of their dads gfs. Straight cash. We didn’t always have 40 hour weeks cause we left early for games or practice a lot but we would make a shite ton for 15-16 year old boys and had a lot of fun doing it really.

Minimum wage was $5.15 when was in HS. I worked for $5.50 at a fruit stand and refed soccer on the weekends. For assistant ref you got the age group, so U12 you got $12 for an hour game. If you were the head ref you had the age group +$5. So u12 you get $17 for an hour game.

$5.50 plus tips as a cart boy. Can't believe members would give me 5, 10, or 20 just for loading clubs and driving them to the clubhouse.
