it's interesting to me how many more seem to be non-believers/atheists/agnostics when things are anonymous.
Wonder how long it will be until that's not something that is frowned upon by society as a whole.

I was raised by divorced parents. Neither are/were (father's deceased) particularly religious, but the entire side of my dads family is extremely southern baptist to the point that they demanded me and my siblings be baptized at an age where we didn't even know what it was. I'm 26 now and identify as an agnostic.

Well I'm Catholic, not a particularly good one. I will say the best apocryphal quote I've ever heard was when Napoleon invaded Italy and was telling a preeminent Cardinal that he would destroy the church. The cardinals reply was "what makes you think you can destroy from the outside what corrupt men have been unable to do from within"

I was raised evangelical but even at a young age realized it was bullshite.
The threat of hell kept me onboard longer than I really wanted to but now I'm a comfortable agnostic.

I grew up in a strict Pentecostal family. Over the years, I'm become convinced that church and organized religion is nothing more than an elaborate ponzy scheme and all about money. I once heard someone say "if you want to get rich in the south, start a church."
That's not to say that I don't believe in a God, I just don't buy that it's what altered biblical texts from thousands of years ago pitch. I strongly feel that the Bible has been altered heavily and edited to fit a particular narritave and leaves out a lot of details that would encourage people to live free'er lives. There are far too many preachers out there making 100k a year.
So, ultimately, I believe in God but I believe we've been lied to and that organized religion is bullshite

Currently an agnostic that's open to being proven wrong. I do occasionally attend mass with family, and I like the positive messages. But other than that, I never really think about religion.

I remember in 8th grade my biology teacher went over evolution, and I was like "shite, that's how it happened." Strange tho, I still enjoy the teachings of Jesus, just don't think he was into books and organized religion. He tried to separate us from that, but we went right back to it.

I'm certainly not trying to get myself or anyone else banned, I'm just curious at the belief that the two are mutually exclusive. Many noticeable scientists have become theists because of science. World renowned Michio Kaku, for example, recently said that his discoveries have led him to the conclusion that there has to be an intelligent being that created and controls the universe. Point being, you don't have to leave your brain at the door to believe in God.

Happens a lot. Also with missionaries. Other than being away from home it's a comfortable arse life where you pretty much grade yourself and make your own hours.

Southern Baptist and still Southern Baptist. Those mouthing about the Baptist preacher and getting rich every Baptist preacher I know worked a second job.
