re: What was your final straw or main reason you left Louisiana?

Finally had the chance to leave after swearing every summer that I wouldn’t do another one. So I took it.

4 seasons, more $ for my work, better hunting, top 15 public education system, lower crime, less diversity. Shits awesome.

No land drilling for steady work like west Texas

I left Louisiana in 62, when I joined the Navy. North Louisiana was supported by mostly cotton farming. Baton Rouge was a mostly safe City. A cousin and would ride his Motor Scooter all over B Rouge in the late 50s without a care.
When I returned, in about 92, BR was unsafe to Drive at night, in most areas. When shopping at Wall Mart, the cashier, didn't give a damn about customers.
I was visiting some relatives in Ferriday and decided to stop at a burger KIng for a Milk Shake. I waited in line about fifteen minutes while the cashier was shooting the shite with another customer. I said to hell with this and left. A few weeks later I was at a Barber Shop across the street from the Burger King. While in the Barber chair, the Barber happened to ask me if I had ever shopped at the Burger King. He had the same experience.
I decided there no reason to live in such a place. I have never regretted leaving, although I have some great memories of my youth.

Moving there in a few years.

I’ll come in for a few LSU games. Only about a 2 hr drive from where I’ll live. Probably go to more away games since I’ll be closer to Starkville, Oxford and Tuscaloosa.
