the scariest ride of that whole complex was the big slide at water world. when they pushed you of your body lifted off for like 1/2 a second

Cyclone and Batman are the only two I remember.

Cyclone was my favorite. Nothing like the old wooden roller coasters.

That was "The Edge"

I went down it a few times. It was scary but also kinda painful. The water would beat you to death on the way down and give you a wedgie from hell.

And frick the gondolas, they looked so cool but once you got in, you realized how boring it was. And it took forever.

I got a bj from my trashy high school gf in the gondolas. Still look back fondly at that moment.

Greased Lightning and Texas Cyclone

Taz's Texas Tornado was legit the 15% of the time it was actually running.

Nothing like parking at the old astrodome and taking the little shuttle to Astroworld. Some of my favorite memories as a kid. Also watching Nolan Ryan pitch while catching a stros game as a kid.

This ride was awesome but the line was almost always long and moved slow.

The Batman ride sounded cool until you had 3 g-forces pushing on your balls by a tiny bike seat.

Yea 2nd to tidal wave for me what's Better than standing in the walkway and getting crushed by a big wave after being out in the sun all day. Once I didn't hold on to the railing and when the wave had passed I was on my arse sitting against the back railing

GL an hour before close was as fast as you could get back in line.

Bonus ride: the water world 8? Story "straight down" slide.

Was always mystified by all of the geographic/time period regions as a kid. I'm sure it was ghetto, but it was fvcking awesome to 12 year old me.

I miss that place. Good memories. Barrel of Fun was not a good memory. Bamboo shoots was a good one. I was also 10 or 11.

Saw Cheap Trick play there for our senior night of high school 1986.

5. Greased Lightning
My first real coaster - and it went upside down, which intimidated the shite outta me. Popped my cherry, then rode it all day long. Had a Greased Lightning pennant souvenir tacked to my bedroom wall until I moved out of my parents' house to live in Hatcher.
