What was your favorite P2P program back in the day?

Napster? Kazaa? Limewire? WinMX? BitTorrent?

Now you can stream everything but back in the day I remember discovering so many new bands using these. I never got into Napster for some reason but I did use Kazaa and Limewire

When BitTorrent came about that was a game changer though for sure. Once you got an invite to a legit site (thePirateBay had too many fake file and Trojans etc) I could find anything and more, opened my eyes and ears to so many bands I hadn’t heard about but fell in love with. If y’all did Torrents what site did you use? I always went to both IndieTorrents (probably my favorite for a while) and Oinks Pink Palace (this one eventually turned out to be the best). I used µTorrent to download with although I’m sure there are other better ones

I have a feeling pirating is going to come back with all of the different streaming services and pricing going up. Not many people can afford to pay for 4 or 5 services if there is something on each they are interested in.

Yep I’ve definitely had to format the computer and reinstall windows a few times, not sure which it came off of. I think it was from trying to download either a program or porn though, not mp3’s.

WinMX and Kazaa were my favorites from the OG P2P era
After that moved to IRC DCC bots
Suprnova and early Pirate Bay were awesome
I miss Oink's Pink Palace.
I gave up music torrent sites when legit streaming became so cheap and easy and I let my membership on Not What lapse
I kinda want it back though, I don't even know what the best private music trackers are anymore

Classic mislabeled P2P file!

However, probably not as egregious as Bob Marley - Red, Red Wine.

not sure you understand what OG means... Kazaa was later in the revolution.

When Napster was hot I used to download rap songs, cut off the last 3/4 of the song and then record my 13 year old arse screaming "REMIX!!!" and singing the rest of the track a capella in my dad's office.

Would die laughing as people spent 25 minutes getting 50% into the download then cut it off.
