clue, risk, and chess. My Dad bought me a hand carved wooden chess set. the board was hand made as well and it folded over to hold the pieces.

We weren't sitting inside playing board games. We were outside running barefoot on the rocks, drinking out the hosepipe and building ramps to jump laid down garbage cans.

I liked Mousetrap and Life when I was young. I like scrabble and chess when I was a teenager.

In the summer we’d stay up late playing cards or board games in the living room bc that’s where the window unit was.

Jokes on you because I'm not married. How do you think I have 2500+ posts in two months. I just made a thread on an LSU sports message board about board games for crying out loud.

Neighborhood kids had a game going that lasted all day and into next. Big fun!

Risk was big time. The Australia strategy got really old though. My attempts to hold Europe never worked but I liked trying.
I liked Monopoly, but siblings and friends always wanted the house rules b.s. like money for landing on free parking. 1 person almost always traded away the farm to get the boardwalk-park place monopoly while giving someone else a cheap monopoly with instant hotels. Monopoly lasts forever because people won't make reasonable trades and do the house rules that keeps people afloat. The whole point is to destroy the other players financially.

I still have my Perfection game and it worked perfectly for my kids 30 some years after I played with it. I have most of my games including Simon and Merlin; both still working.
My family still plays with my Life and Sorry games.

Life. I liked the spinner wheel and the cars with people were cool.
