1 inch cable snapped when I was a kid. I was maybe 7. Caught just the tip of my nose.

Flipped a long travel SUV when an old lady pulled out in front of me. It wasn't built to turn fast. I wasn't willing to put 3/8s plate into her door. I remember flipping and going weightless in the air. And knowing the second impact was going to be worse. It was.

Endoed a side by side doing 70 or so. Hurt.

Had a cop put a round into a wall 2ft from me while he was cleaning a gun.

100mph on a straight gravel road. Road made a 90. I didn't. Sideways into the cane fields. Didn't flip.

Caught a ricochet in the chest as a teenager. Because I was stupid and shot an old semi tire at about 60 yards.

I incessantly mocked a white supremacist during a monopoly game for real money until he pulled a handgun on me. And in a moment of stupidity, I mocked him again rather than shut up. Thankfully he got so mad he just started laughing in what can only be described as furious exasperation.

Worked at a shop and rob when in high school, two dindu nuffins robbed it. Had a gun pointed at the back of my head and had to get on the ground. Thought for sure that was it. Kept imagining the chalk line of my body that entire time.

Was in a small plane that nearly crashed into the ocean during a storm on a family vacation in Hawaii. Pilot overshot the runway at Hana Airport and was barely able to pull up before going off a cliff that went straight down in rocks and some big arse waves. No chance any of us would have made it had it hit he water. I've been scared of flying ever since.

Hydroplaned off I-10 at Biloxi going 80mph (suddenly hit that famous Alabama tornado storm, wall of water) , missed an 18 wheeler by 6 inches, flew off the interstate and hit a massive tree. If my vehicle would have hit at any other angle my neck would have instantly broke.

Odd you would post this right after I was looking at a post I made the other day in the rattlesnake/golfer thread, it reads like this:

There are pics of it. Looks like a Timber Rattler. Those and eastern Diamondbacks are the big boys. I encountered a 6-6.5 foot long EDB on the nature trail at Oak Mountain in the mid 90’s. I’ve had people say EDB’s don’t get that far north BUT mine had the diamonds and not chevrons.

I literally just about stepped on it as we were crossing paths. I get chills to this day thinking about those big arse diamonds and rattle it had. Me and my girlfriend at the time stood there and watched it slither off, even when we were clear of it soaking the moment in as I said we would probably doubt it happened…but it did. Snip

I was just thinking about that moment again more vividly moments ago. The event is emblazoned in my mind looking down right into the eyes of that bad boy as he and I just about met in the same spot. One more step and I was SCREWED. That SOB could have named his price on my arse when I set my foot right in front of him with one last stride on my part and one easy strike on his. As for snakes he was enormous. I’d estimate legitimately 6ft, maybe more. And I’m not an expert either but he was the prototypical diamondback rattler. He must have had free reign in the area because he was as thick as my calf as well. Well fed. I didn’t have to be a pro to know exactly what time it was. Of a few brushes with death, that was probably my closest.

I got hit by an 18 wheeler while doing road construction when I was 19. Dr said six inches one way he wouldn’t have hit me, and six inches the other way, he would’ve killed me. As it was, I came out of it with a concussion, bruised ribs, and a messed up foot, which is fine now.

I fell off of a barge in the Mississippi River, it was about 3am, March, the water was cold and the current was swift from the spring thaw. I had a PFD on, but I was drifting right under the bow of the boat that came to pick me up. I was able to grab a line that was hanging off the side of the barge. My hands were numb, luckily a deckhand got a life ring to me and I held on until they got me out of the water.

I had a brand new Acura, I stripped down in the terminal parking lot so I wouldn't ruin the seat covers.

One night I had abdominal pain so severe my wife took me to the ER. They took x-rays and a scan and sent me out to wait. An hour later two doctors came to see me, not a good sign, essentially they told me that it looked like I had a malignancy on my pancreas and they wanted to admit me right away. Of course, that is a virtual death sentence, and don't buy any green bananas.

After testing it turned out that my pancreas was inflamed due to a dose of steroid I had taken for a rash. No malignancy and I avoid steroids completely.
