I was coming out of Whole Foods the other day with a whole basket of groceries and I forgot where I parked my car.
I was surrounded by tattooed/pierced people and thought for a minute that I would never make it home.

When I was in college, I made the trip down to NOLA with my girlfriend. We got lost (after many drinks) and ended up walking somewhere we shouldn’t have gone. A group of young men came out of an alley, blocked our path, and surrounded us. Now the thing was, my girlfriend was Indian and in the dark of the night, her ethnicity was hard to determine. The young men started yelling at us asking what she was doing with a white boy like me. They eventually let us go on, but I was sure I was about to get beaten and who knows what they might’ve done to her.

Realizing that you were never forcibly sterilized.

I got free tickets to see a Saints pre-season home game. Well, the game was over, and I went out of the Dome THEN I realized that I forgot where I parked.
My skin felt like it was on fire and burning, so I took all of my clothes off. The NOPD arrested me and took me in. My car got towed. Next day I bailed out of jail and paid the ticket and towing fee -- my car was in the care and custody of the NOPD!
Story had a happy ending -- no really -- I went to a downtown massage parlor and got a happy ending.

I had an a-hole hunter (lease holder) level a shotgun at me once, thinking I was trespassing. I was not.

Truck ran a redlight and hit me broadside on my motorcycle when I was 21. Happened completely in slow motion, slid for what felt like 10 mins. Whole time in my head I was thinking “wow, guess this is how it all happens”.

Scruffy once thought that a stupid decision he made in high school had resulted in a friend committing suicide.
It didn’t happen, but scared the absolute shite of Scruffy.

Mine was climbing the Miss River Bridge in BR. People use to do it all the time, just scurry up the conduit. Well, back in the mid 90's, they add an 8'x8' hurricane fence at the top of the conduit, it was horizontal. So when you got to the top of the conduit, you had to hang from the fence and swing your body over the sides to get over it. Getting back down was just as tricky. This was 60' in the air.
I still have flashbacks of climbing that thing, knowing how stupid that was. It plays in my head like watching one of those videos of people hanging from bridges, cranes, etc.

It is a toss up, engine failure over water or diving through fire to escape a cockpit engulfed in flames - you decide

4 year old daughter went missing for 5 minutes at a fireworks show. Dark, crowded. Terrifying until we found her sitting on a bench 30 feet away.

Hell no!!!
I was in Rome this summer with my 14 year old daughter. We were doing some night photography at The Vatican. I turn around and she was gone. I first just walk a few feet away from where I have my camera set up. Within minutes, I'm yelling her name (we were in the square, not inside, but it's still pretty quiet there). I start walking further away, leaving $8000 in camera equipment just sitting there. I was in a panic. I finally found her in the columns, taking pictures.
I had flashes of "Taken" running through my head.

Tripping balls riding shotgun with a guy going way too fast.
Working late, wife is at MG parade with daughters. She callls hysterical and sobbing " we lost MAF", and cel phone call drops. Poor choice of words and phrasing.

Another time sitting in a box stand with my son, he was about 5-6 years old. Look over towards a gas well, there's some yahoo parked there scoping the stand with his rifle. I get out and walked down the pipeline to confront him. He kept his rifle up the whole time.
I got to his truck, he was saying something to me hell if I know what it was. I opened his truck door, snatched his rifle out of his hands, opened the bolt and a cartridge ejected. That fricker had a loaded rifle pointed at the stand my child was in.
I released the bolt from the rifle, threw it one direction into the woods, then threw the rest of the rifle in the other direction. Didn't say a word. Turned around and started walking back to stand.
My a-hole was clenched so tight I could have converted coal into a diamond until I heard him put the truck in gear and start to drive off. Never saw him again.

Thank God it was your daughter and not a son.
