$621.92 in 2017 dollars. $425 in 1999. Shitty apartments on College just north of I-10. One bedroom crappy little place. Did have a cute neighbor though. I was just starting law school back then, so I spent most of my free time drinking at The Chimes--I mean "studying at the library."

$615 for a studio freshman year on St. Charles Ave in 2004-2005. Going rate now $1,100. ( This place). I came into a little inheritance but with a string attached that I could only spend it on something essential. So I conviced my parents that living uptown at 18 would be a good (and safe) idea. There's a reason I flunked out of UNO.

My first post college apartment was a house in Ruston for $900.
