I haven't gotten a refund in years. Maybe I need to start cheating or just quit work and collect my check on the front porch like half of America.

No tax refund for me. Self employed. But I purposely put aside ~$2k more than I'll actually have to pay so I can pretend it's a refund when I'm really just transferring $2k of my own money back into my checking account I don't use it for anything, though. It just gets transferred into checking.

It is what you get when you properly pay your taxes, or your projected tax bill.

People that bitch about their tax bill really annoy me. You knew it was coming, pay some every month

How much interest did you make off that money you loaned the government?

Lol. He could have had that $1200 working for him at 0.01% interest in his savings account! He missed out!

Well, that's no different than letting the IRS hold it for free. That $2k should be making you 6% a year and be $2120 instead.

It is in a saving account. Where according to the history, it makes approximately 30 cents per month. Lol.

My wife and I are both employed and taxes are auto-deducted from our paychecks.

How are we supposed to anything about that?

FWIW, we got a big one this past year because I started grad school and we bought our first house (and she makes nurse money).

ETA:

And we paid down debt with it.

I wouldn't consider giving the government an interest free loan with my money as properly paying taxes.

i have not got a refund since owing stock in our company but i declared head of household this year and got a nice refund back.

I gave a third of it to my woman to keep her happy even though she usually spends my money regardless!

then bought a new porch that is being finished now and will start\finish my front flowerbeds and create two more in the back yard on each side of the deck

You tell them what to deduct when you start working there. You can have no income tax withheld from your W-2 job if you want to.

Interesting.

I'd rather just not deal with it. I'll just consider that $100 I could make on savings account interest a payment for not having to deal with a tax bill at the end of the year.
