If you have dvd’s open a Vudu account and you can convert them for about 2 bucks a piece to digital. Blu-ray is 5 dollars. You can buy a good quality CD players for about $150 on eBay. Would not throw them away.

I have hundreds as well. Both our vehicles have CD players and for a while I was rotating through the collection to decide which to keep. Now I realize none are really worth keeping.
There is a second hand store here (McKay's) that will buy them, but probably for less than the time/gas money.

I hung on to mine for years and years but they just sat and took up space. I ended up throwing them out.

I sent several of mine to SecondSpin.com and got some money for them.

I buy new CDs all the time.
What genres of music did you listen to? Are they in good shape? I might be interesting in looking through them. I bought a bunch from Blues Lover before he moved to Ecuador.

There’s a whole lot of randomness in there - plenty of Pearl Jam, DMB, Guns N Roses and Metallica. Musicals and movie soundtracks, jazz, classic rock and everything in between.
Nothing in original cases - all in two of those large zip-up binders from case logic.
My wife’s car has the CD player, but we both just use Apple Music mostly. Opening it today was a walk down memory lane - I used to buy CDs so often (so much that I ended up getting a job at Wherehouse Music back in the early 2000’s).
To me the easiest thing is to give them away to someone who will use them rather than throw them away. I guess if there’s cash involved too that’s even better.

Throw em in a box and torrent each album... I did. I figured I bought them so it's not pirating... just faster the download them than rip them..

Maybe it's in the everything in between category.

I’m never throwing away my remastered Pink Floyd The Wall dual cd box set. Never.
Ever.
Ever.

I looked through the collection this morning, and...no Ace of Base.
My deepest and sincerest apologies.

I have a big box of old tapes too. Not sure why I've never tossed them out. I haven't bought a CD or tape in many years.
You can’t get rid of those old mix tapes ? Too sentimental? I can’t clown you. I still have mine for some reason. One day I may need to breakout those old Air Supply tapes for something.

I have a bad habit of impulse buying CDs every time I go to Target or somewhere. It's like a compulsion, I still have to browse the music
Same here, kinda stopped though. Started impulse buying 2-3 years ago, mostly online including eBay.
Got me a new cd player too, sounds amazing. Great purchase for $150.
So I have this cd collection dating back to the 90's, maybe 250 cd's or so. My car does not have a cd player, so I ended up buying an external cd player for $90 and paid a electronics shop to install it inside my glove compartment for $80. Bargain.
So instead of getting rid of all my cd's I still listen to them at home and in my car.
Sweet hobby for me at least.
