On a Friday at about 4 it could take you an hour to get through BR which is ridiculous.

Take the Loop just west of Port Allen instead of coming across the Wilkinson Bridge. It brings you across the new Gravy Chambers Memorial bridge to 1-10 near Dutchtown or a few minutes later to 1-12 near Walker. it has a $3.50 toll charge, but it's worth it because you bypass Baton Rouge completely.
