I mean if I was a descendent of the slaves that were still in slavery in the North after Juneteenth, I'd be a bit irritated that "Juneteenth" is apparently now the date of the official end of slavery instead of...well....the actual official end of slavery after the ratification of the 13th.

Whole bunch of slaves in Delaware and Kentucky celebrated the first Juneteenth in chains.

I can't even post what Juneteenth was called (among blacks and whites) when I was growing up.

Maybe at some point these fricking companies will learn they cannot win no matter how well intentioned, and stop trying /pandering

Are we pretending that Walmart was trying to support and not just trying to make a quick buck off it?

Twitter just connects those that always feel the need to outraged about something because the precedent has been set that if you get something trending the company will apologize

Walmart should say ok y’all go ahead and boycott and see who blinks first on that one.

They just straight tried to make money off the holiday (nobody knew was a holiday).

But it’s fine for Walmart to make money off of every other holiday.

I’m not much for pandering but it actually seemed like a good flavor mix. I would’ve bought it, just for the flavor not for the Juneteenth dealmajig

No, never. Corporations would never do something like that.

still don't understand how they don't have chocolate in a Juneteenth ice cream

Red velvet cake is traditionally a red, red-brown, crimson, or scarlet-colored[1] chocolate layer cake, layered with ermine icing.[2] Traditional recipes do not use food coloring, with the red color due to non-Dutched, anthocyanin-rich cocoa.[1][3][4]

Yes, and often those companies catch shite for it… there’s even the terms rainbow washing or pride washing to describe when companies don’t align a mission to the marketing.

And yet they keep doing it, and keep making money off of it.

It's almost like there's a certain segment of the population in this country that is ok with it as long as they can virtue signal they buy products from the Correct Company for the Correct Reasons.

"Look at my new trans flag cover photo! I bought The Current Thing from Disney because they also have a Trans Flag! Look at my virtues!"

Red velvet and cheesecake

Some say Wal Mart ripped off the flavor of red velvet with swirls of cheesecake from Creamalicious, a black owned business (with its product sold at Wal Mart).
