I remember it used to be somewhat of a nicer place to grab dinner. Quiet, tablecloths, etc. I went in tonight and the carpet was gone, making it loud AF, music blaring, and Tv's on in the dining room showing sports.

WTF?

Probably because it’s 2019 and not 1984.

This is some good bait. Many, many bawfish will be caught.

They're printing money over there, it's packed DAILY for lunch and dinner. They stepped up their game and left Fezzo's behind. They got out of the 'blue hair' game that Don's Downtown is in. Seems you should go there for carpet and panel walls from the 70's. I wasn't a big fan of the Hut over the last 20 years but they've turned things around.

I thought the carpet downtown was trashy as hell.

Sounds like they’re moving in the right direction.

The downtown location was always kind of blah.

It’s a decent place to go now. Unlike the downtown location

Carpet in any restaurant tends to be super gross and ends up looking terrible.

I never eat in the actual dining room, but that does seem a bit too much.

Just eat at the bar, and embrace the obnoxious coonassery. They make a huge turnover in the newish oyster bar, so I can understand why they built it, but the main dishes have not changed. The crawfish au gratin, served in your own side dish baked potato - is still the correct answer.

We talking about Johnston location?

Went when I was in Laffy a month ago for oyster night. Seemed fine. Younger crowd than it used to be.

They adapted to a changing environment. If you ran the place they’d be closed down by now

That’s a bad thing? Carpet in a restaurant is disgusting. Carpet is so unsanitary in public places.

The one on vets in metaire was pretty bad when I went a few months back. I remember that place being a legit fried seafood option a few years after katrina when there weren't many places like that open in New Orleans proper.

Yes. It gave off an upscale Walk-Ons vibe, minus the sports memorabilia and cheerleader outfits.

It was more about how loud it was.

Don’s seafood hut and Don’s seafood are two different things, and they both suck.

Won’t ever eat there again if I’m paying.
