I know someone with a kid who I guess is now around 5 years old (maybe 6 or 7 I don't know because I haven't spoken to the parents in years), that is doing something similar. They have a boy who the mom brings with her to pedicure appointments to get his nails painted, they put him in dance classes where he is the only boy, and the mom posted something about how people shouldn't judge if they have a gay child when the kid was like 3 years old.
She is a teacher, and so is her husband (he's actually involved in developing the science curriculum for Louisiana public schools). They are a main reason why I would never send my kids to public school in this state.
I've seen him post on social media about how homosexuality should be covered in 1st grade because that is the grade that covers reproduction and evolution in nature and that there are homosexual animals so it should be fair game.
It's really disgusting.

Yeah, when I was in preschool I went through a quick phase where I pretended to be a talking dog. Very glad my parents didn't haul me to the plastic surgeon for a tail, lol.

Don't let my kids decide what's for dinner. Because they are kids. And they would choose cookies or pizza 100% of the time despite it being against their best interest.
We definitely should not allow them to make major decisions that impact their development - especially ones that can't be reversed.

A bit of a tangent but could not that apply to a lot of elective plastic surgery? In the sense that it often is indulging people with other forms ofbody dysmorphic illness.

Much like my previous statement though, the treatment for BDD is the exact opposite of how we treat gender dysphoria.
No psychiatrist would recommend treating someone with BDD by telling them that they are correct and that their perceived physical slight can only be fixed by performing surgery. It isn’t the physical slight that is the problem. It is a mental issue, not physical. Fixing the physical doesn’t fix the mental.
Well, besides some terrible plastic surgeons, but you eventually run into the ethical argument if you go to far.
Body dysmorphic disorder isn’t as blatantly obvious of a diagnosis though, due to the overall prevalence of “small” plastic surgeries.
As an aside, there is a reason I do not support “cosmetic” plastic surgery (injections, boob jobs, lifts, etc.). Acceptance of who you are and how you appear is healthy.
Now, also recognize that this isn’t a 100% statement. Nothing is 100%.

That does make sense. My sibling suffered from several forms of mental illness. Anorexia was one them and it unfortunately contributed to her death at an early age. During a time when she was suicidal ECT treatment was performed and as we understood at the time it was kind a last resort to try and stabilize her mentally. It was a disaster. Even though scientist dont know exactly how it works they see positive results 70% of the time so we gave it a shot. Thats what we understood about a lot of her treatments over the years.
I guess my point is when these doctors are dealing with extreme cases they roll with treatments that show the greatest possibility of a positive out come. Thats the only explanation I cant think of as to why so many seem to support gender re-assignment as a treatment. What concerns me is what appears to be this growing trend to rush the treatments in children.

I think the deception over this issue, to a certain degree goes both ways though. How many kids are lining up to be administered hormone blockers? Conservative media would have you thinking they are lining up around the block on every corner while msm portrays concerned parents as bigots. Its really unfortunate that what is a serious mental health issue for some has turned into a political one.
