It would take someone who could rule with an iron fist and make painful changes that would have certain segments in an uproar.

Because you don’t fix things by pandering to the problem.

Why don’t the “good” people just move back to Baton Rouge? They’d save 250 hours of commute time a year and improve the city’s economy.

The attitude of the voters in BR has proven the he has a better than average chance to be elected as anyone else.

If the good people come back, all of that improves.

I’m starting to think that the “good” people are just duds.

We moved back to BR after 7 years in the burbs. The time my wife and I save daily is worth the private school tuition.

We only have one school aged kid though. That could get expensive pretty quickly with multiple.

I thought Baton Rouge was in great hands with Cowboy Kip.

You have the state which is losing residents the past couple of years. I'm not sure Baton Rouge can be an oasis of great education, good paying jobs and overall good education system.

Let's take the gloves off and just say it. There is a segment of the population of voters who would vote for him just because he's black. Damn his experience, his vision, his ability to get things done, etc. All of the most important aspects of the job would fall by the wayside.

We just happened to get lucky with Kip in that he was actually a pretty good mayor, all things considered.

I would be all behind getting behind and endorsing a mayor who happens to be black, yet possesses all the necessary qualities to get the job done. That's basically what it's going to take.
