I know Dave Ramsey says no more than 25% of take home pay per month. Ours is just under 20%.

Oh,I see. What is this rent that you speak of?
Posted on 5/8/19 at 3:47 pm to Areddishfish
7%. I like to live beneath my means.
Posted on 5/8/19 at 3:49 pm to Not Cooper
I believe the rule of thumb is 28% of gross

That's the stuff your buddy pays so you will have a couch to crash on.
I knew you pilots didn't make much, but damn.

Just funnin’ with you whippersnappers. Whoever said live within or beneath your means speaks the truth. I’m older, but haven’t had a car or house note in years and it’s awesome.

14% gross, 21% net to mortgage, hoa, insurance, property taxes, and escrow.

OT Ballers pay straight cash
Not when the bank will loan you money under 4%.

I did that for a while myself. Then realized that saving pennies and not enjoying what I have worked so hard for is a crime.
To each their own. Some people get joy from seeing how high they can get a bank account they will never spend.

23%, including insurance and taxes.

It’s not that you don’t enjoy the fruits of your labor, it’s just how you enjoy them.
I’d much rather have a modest house with easier upkeep and maintenance and spend more of my money on travel and life experiences.

Don’t know how you interpreted that from what I said. I like having it and spending it
Posted on 5/8/19 at 4:22 pm to Not Cooper
101%, so I can go broke slowly but in style.

I just assumed you were bad with money. You should be able to lock in a rate at or near inflation. No reason not to.
